i think one of the reasons anons especially have so many feelings about the big nothing that is elementary school is because for them it was actually a period of intellectual growth. i didn't learn anything in elementary and would often go entire days in class just thinking to myself while the teacher talked. but then in high school i learned music and in college i learned all that lib arts shit, and those parts of my life were so much better. i even remember memorizing how to multiply in 3rd grade and that's the grade with the most vivid memories. so maybe people cling to the parts of their life where their minds are the most active. i don't imagine passively collecting facts in high school is very stimulating.
