In 2014 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a directive that required states to cover ABA therapy in order to continue receiving Medicaid funding. There's now a limitless pot of taxpayer money for costly interventions and autism therapy service, as they are now deemed "Medically necessary"Money begets illicit kickback schemes between pediatricians and therapy care providers. At first it was just about the money, but it's now been 10 years and the culture has been cemented. You just crank those diagnoses out left and right so you can just wash your hands of it.
