When your coworkers finally broke the ice and asked you what do you do outside of work, what did you tell them?
I don't talk to them.
>>82688804You can get away with not socializing at work? I didn't know that.
>>82688795>When your coworkers finally broke the ice and asked you what do you do outside of workThis never happened.
>>82688795talk their ears off about my autistic hobbies so they'll never want to talk to me again
>>82688795i worked at a restaurant so everyone was a giga normie who knew how to not hurt my feelings
I lie and say something sanitized they are similarly interested in since they always hobby talk first or i pretend i want to learn how to something they are proud of knowing so they seem important
>>82688820yeah, I just talk to them work related things. At lunch I just seat alone listening to music.
>gay coworker asks each other coworker about their taste in music>finally gets to me>watch myself sperg out about this dead artist I worshipthey hate when you never talk and then suddenly talk a lot
sleeping desu
>>82688795I read a lot, work out a bit, that's about itOccasionally on my day(s) off, I'd walk around somewhere with no direction in mind and just enjoy the place for what it isWalked around a mall and had ramen at a Japanese placeWalked around a park and saw folks taking wedding photosWalked into a mosque and just sat thereI'm not even muslim lol
>>826887951/2Before I started working again I used my free time indulging in respectable, socially-acceptable hobbies that require some effort, (im not strong-willed btw it just makes me feel better about myself) so I was able to say I read, play the violin, hunt, and do a whole bunch of other stuff.Ironically though, it hasn't done me a lot of favors. I work in a restaurant so as you can imagine most if not all of my co-workers are your typical burnouts that can't commit to anything. They're not even robots yet they talk about video games all day. One of them whom I was closer to at one point started reading again (he said he used to do it more) when I recommended a book to him. He read two full-length books in a row but then a coworker recommended him some trading card game and his ADHD brain just sputtered out. A year later he's still spending the money he could be using towards getting a car towards this instead.Another coworker recently went out of his way to tell me he'd like to go hunting with me. I told him to do the online course to get his license. He just said "Well I got a lot going on right now." and even though he gets two days off a week, it's been weeks now and he hasn't even googled it.That first coworker got really interested in the violin after one night I brought it over and played for them (inb4 cringe). He kept asking/saying all these things like "how do you do this" "how do you do that" "woah it's tuned in fifths like the circle of fifths!?" (he def learned that from a youtube short) "how much is one". I think I offered to let him borrow my old one after I upgraded. At first he was just about to take it but like the next day he said, "well I think if I get my own I'll be more motivated to play it". Then he started complaining about how his insurance premiums went up (he can still spend $120 on a pack of cards apparently), and it was just thing after thing so I ended up giving it to a different coworker.
2/2I almost think I should've just kept to loser hobbies. At least then I could relate to them more. I'll go back to school one day and hopefully get a job with people with a longer attention span but yeah the respectable hobbies thing kind of backfired on me
>>82688795vidya. as a moid this is basically the default answer so no one is surprised
>>82688795In the year that I endured waging, I just said that I stay at home recovering from the week mostly. It was also known that I was going through a life-changing bereavement that happened just weeks before I started. I was also doing some city walks at the weekend with my friend, so I'd mention that.Though I agree that I don't want to get too personal with colleagues, as they are all potential back-stabbers. I despise all the office politics shit. TFW no autist friendly job where I can be in an office, but never have to speak. Work wouldn't be so insufferable without all the forced extraneous bullshit.
i list off hobbies that i dont actively participate in anymore but have enough experience with to sound convincing
>>82688795>im a gooner i like to goon
>>82688795Was honest and told them I mostly tinker with computers and play video games. And sometimes drink beer alone or with a friend outside. Left out the part about being a coomer, of course. Was almost expecting them to think I'm pathetic but instead they said they envied me for actually having money and free time, because a lot of them are married fathers with mortgages. I remember having a pretty expensive laptop delivered at work from another country and when they saw it, they said "you can tell he's still a free man".
>>82688795NoI play up the "I'm an autistic robot" joke as a smokescreen to never tell them what I do>hey anon what are you up to this weekend>oh I just stare at the wall until monday>hey anon are you a gamer>nah I just power down when I go home
