hi r9k. i wanted to know if any of you schizos know how to prevent the negative effects of ed induced starvation. i need to lose 20 lbs by the end of the year.

Fasting is good for the body. Eat small amounts of lean protein during the week and fast during the weekend. You should be a little physical active as well. Fasting to the point of starving yourself can result in irrevocable loss of teeth, hair, fertility.

Thats extremely doable and very simple.

Starve until you can't any more. Then eat very sparingly until you feel a bit better, then repeat.

Start with a short fast, like 48 hours for your first time.
Take mineral supplements and salt.

You'll be shocked how much of your day is thinking about food and eating it. It throws off your entire routine as well. To psychologically combat this I'd recommend making a ritual of drinking tea or coffee at every meal time. You'll get use to black coffee or tea in no time but also try green teas or decaff/herbal teas for dinner.

Apparently green tea is also good for weight loss.

Easy work if you're truly dedicated.

Start fasting right now. This means water and minerals, don't even drink broth. Tea and coffee is fine. You want to enter autophagy and ketosis. This usually takes 2 days.
Start with a 48 hour fast just to get used to it. You'll be surprised how much time you spend thinking about food and how much meal times dictate your daily routine.
Weigh yourself every day
Start taking hikes and walks. At least 4 miles a day, even when fasting.
Stop using heater if possible. Cold weather increasing how many calories you burn. Take cold showers too if you want extra calorie burn.

As far as non fast day diet is concerned, focus less on eating healthy and more on eating a smaller portion size. I found this to be far more important than eating healthy and a lot easier to do. This way you can eat whatever you want but just eat less of it. Since you want to lose a lot of weight I'd say eat half your usual portion sizes

The other option would be doing one meal a day on non-fast days. i don't recommend this because you could get re-feeding issues.

So i'd recommend starting a 48 hour fast tomorrow. allow yourself to eat at calorie deficient until Monday next week.
Then start a cycle of 5 day fasting and 2 days eating.
Give yourself a reasonable cheat meal on fall harvest/holloween, Christmas and if you're American on thanksgiving as well.

Also don't forget that a lot of the weight that you lose will not be purely from fat. A lot of it during the fast will just be water/food weight.
