Where is your passion project now?
I used to be full of ideas, I'd dream of visual novels and rpg maker games, comics and illustrations but at the end of the day I never put my all into any of this stuff, I'd get frustrated easily and give up. I'd slap some sense into myself if I could turn back time.
Now I can't even come up with anything, everything feels boring and dull after I mindfucked myself with useless internet slop.
Now I ask you to share your project, hobby or not, I could use some hope.

If you're depressed then that's what you'd expect. Can't even get into doing anything because it's so devoid of joy. Do non-artistic dream projects work? I lack a lot of the skills for anything artistic and even for my non-artistic dream projects I lack the means and freedom to do them. If that doodle is yours then it looks pretty good also, OP.
>>
I stopped all my projects. I finally have the time to finish them but i can't even plan three days ahead and stuff costs money sadly. Not like it matters after loosing all drive for technical things and creative thought some time ago.
Guess i could draw something sometime as there is no commitment and its free but i don't know what i could do.
>>
I have never had a passion project.

There is something wrong with me. I don't know how to be self-directed and create something of my own. I can only be productive if someone is telling me what to do.
>>
>>82874782
Yeah, it's mine, thank you.
I believe you are right, at the end of the day it doesn't matter what activity it is, if you are not in the right mind space you could do the craziest, adrenalinic activity and gain absolutely nothing.

Had the opportunity of doing some woodwork lately, and as much as it was a fun new thing to do, I could tell it wouldn't make me happy in the long run.

What kind of activity were you trying to do?
>>

I am writing a book very very very slowly. maybe like a few lines a week and then some days I will write half a chapter. been chipping away at it slowly when I am in the mood for almost 3 years, slowly inching the plot forward. im at over 200 pages, and honestly im not sure if ill ever finish it or how long it will be. i know what the big story archs are but i like to flesh certain characters and themes out if i like them. i would like to write more. i long for the day i am caught up with everything else in my life and i can spend a few days immersed in my world. scribbling away at the romance of wimple and anlo.

What's your personal life like, OP? Woodworking also sounds like it'd be pretty fun. I'd want to make a mask or two if I ever got into that. That or maybe try and make super strong shields. NileRed did a whole video before trying to make stronger, compressed wood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CglNRNrMFGM

Although with wood that tough you'd probably want power tools to work with it B^). As an armchair psychologist also I prescribe some cute videos for you to watch. Oxytocin helps with depression.
>What kind of activity were you trying to do?
Too many to count, but the most recent one I've been interested in is trying to make a kind of dark ecosphere using electric bacteria as the basis of the food chain. The kind of DC power supply that I'd need though would be like 200$ though. The idea is that I'd selectively breed something like geobacter to actively tolerate oxygen better and hopefully even consume sugars with oxygen by adjusting how often the power source is on. They can already fixate carbon(take up CO2 to use to make things), so as far as I'm aware they should be able to push out oxygen as an eventual waste product in a CO2 rich atmosphere without much stuff for them to eat, other than electricity. I have some ideas for testing if they would produce oxygen too, with their chamber being sealed and then using some check valves to pump CO2 into their chamber and some of the gas from their chamber out into another sealed chamber. Then I'd just use an electrode to try and ignite the paper. If it only smolders then I know there isn't much if any oxygen, but if it makes a full on fire then it's definitely producing oxygen.

A tip I heard for writing stories was to make a whole plot skeleton. Basically like a little with a simplified version of all of the events in your story and pointing to the order/how they affect each other. What's your story about though, anon?
>>
>>82874973
yeah I have a plot skeleton. I have written down a bunch of times the overall plot and big plot points that need to happen. I just keep adding minor characters and I invent stories for them and then I have a brand new storyline, and I feel if I dont write that storyline that is lazy, because i good and i want it to be better.
the overall plot is that 17 years after a nuclear war, there is a King who has a castle with inhabitants in the castle. There is another King who wants to invade the castle. And there is just more stuff happening like backstabbing and politics and sex.
>>
>>82875098
Sounds like a neat story, anon. Do they have more futuristic tech leftover from the war or is it all basically just our modern tech(whatever survived to be scavenged) and the more medieval technology that's been reintroduced due to the circumstances? I'd be interested to hear more about it, if you're okay with that.

Thank you for the cute video, it give me a bit of motivation. As for the tool, they borrowed me some, still I'm doing very basic stuff, much simpler than the stuff in the video.
I did see a lot of these video on simulated habitats, that's very cool anon, hopefully you do it eventually, so you can post it here.
>>82874854
Post apocalypse, medieval game of politics seems very cool, got any cool tidbit of world building?

Of course, here's another. This is very important for your treatment. Everyone has to start off basic, so no worries and honestly Nile was just winging a lot of what he did in the video. He really should've gotten some kind of steel mold for his project, it would've made things way nicer for them.
>I did see a lot of these video on simulated habitats, that's very cool anon, hopefully you do it eventually, so you can post it here.
wew, probably never gonna share it on this site or board, I'm afraid. It's probably gonna be a good while before I buy a 200$ power supply and all of the other stuff as well. It's surprisingly one of the easier projects for me to achieve though. You mentioned VNs in the OP though, what kind of VNs did you want to make?
>>
I'm going to start a few carpentry projects when I get the chance to set up my wood-lathe. I'm primarily going to stick to wooden bowls and cups but branch out from there.
>>
>>82875435
>wew, probably never gonna share it on this site or board, I'm afraid.
Oh too bad, I was kinda curious now. If there's any video in particular that looks like your project do share please.

As for the VN, I forgot most ideas, I had the bad habit to delete everything as soon as I got bored with them so I lost most of the "projects" (mostly some half baked sketches for the characters and cringe inducing dialogues).

One of the few that I remember was a short multi-ending Ren'py game following a cleaner that got meddled in some gang execution and get forced to clean up the murder by said gang, and you were supposed to either trick them, escape or work for them except I can't write for shit. I don't really have the skill required for a good plot or smart dialogues so it kind went nowhere. I guess I really just need to read more books.

Since I was a child my parents raised me and my siblings to not have passions or projects because they were for the wealthy. We had to work instead. No arts, no steak, no vacations, no investments, hell we didn't even go to parties. All that was for the rich.
In highschool I was invited to a party and I was so confused because I thought I was suppose to be a waiter or something. Didn't go because I thought I would be forced to pay a lot of money.
I'm retarded.

I don't really have any videos that I can think of, but I can link you to some stuff on electric bacteria. This a more informative video, but it covers some very peculiar electric bacteria that make long(for bacteria) cables. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRvSiwXKGIo
Otherwise it'd be more along the lines of ecospheres. Although, since it'd be in the dark, it wouldn't need to be sealed up(and in fact would likely prefer to not be for gas exchange). You'd expect little scuds and snails to eat the bacterial film and everything else to go from there.

Honestly, I would've figured that you'd have wanted to make more romance oriented VNs for some reason. That's an interesting idea for a story too, especially if the guy is actually good at cleaning up evidence. You seem plenty intelligent also, but you should definitely research topics related to what you want to make. Doesn't need to be perfect or super realistic, but it helps to give a bit of accuracy and you might discover some cool things you can twist and use B^).

What makes you think you'd do poorly on dialogue though?
>>
>>82874738
Literally nothing. I have no passions. I don't know anything that wouldn't be in vain outside of a difficult life path of self sacrifice and leaps of faith. All my ideas fucking suck anyways. They'll all be pointless and when I'm dead they'll have proffited me nothing.

This is very interesting, I've never heard of these before, I'm sure they are already experimenting with these.

Oh, for the dialogue, I guess the problem is that they were very directionless? Usually you would want a dialogue to both advance the story/give clues, but still have them interesting or fun enough where the characters feel more like living being and less exposition machines. Not my strong point.
Absolutely agree about the research, nothing to add.

>>82875623
Can't say I had it half as bad as you but I can partially relate, money barred me from more than one experience in my childhood.

Don't listen to this OP, I'm just yapping. Don't let is dissuade you from hope or anything good, it's just my dumb ass.

Glad you found them interesting and yup! People are doing all kinds of research and experiments with them. Electric bacteria as a group are more recent discoveries as well.

As for the dialogue, I guess you'd just need to go back and proof-read and redo things. You'd almost certainly get better at avoiding the unnecessary stuff and actually directing the story in the right direction as time goes on. Otherwise you could get someone to help out with that.

Also, one more dose for you.

Thank you for keeping company on the thread ^^
>>82875861
Don't worry, I get venting, just hope you'll find your thing eventually.
>>
>>82875324
thanks. The castle is very high tech, the King was a multibillionare who funnelled most of his money into making new technology. He was visited by someone from the future who warned him of a nuclear war. The billionare believed him, and bought a castle and renovated it to survive the war / nuclear winter, calling himself the King of the castle. The King now believes in time travel, and his scientists are busy trying to build a time machine.
The other King who is trying to invade just has swords and bows and arrows, primitive weapons. The King of the castle is too OP so Im thinking of ways I can nerf his powers. And there will be a big battle at the end of the book and I want it to be fairly even. Maybe there can be smaller battles where they use up most of their futuristic tech.
>>82875382
World building? Well, it is set on Earth in a world where a nuclear war broke out in 2015. So the world building is just world building of earth. There was an outbreak of an infection too, turning a lot of people into zombies. As 17 years have passed, most of the zombies rotted away, they are very rare. Rouge groups roam around. It is also set in the UK and kinda like 28 Years Later BUT I came up with this idea almost 10 years ago before that movie came out, I was inspired by the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Westworld. The King is also trying to build robots to sell to people in the past by sending them back in time and he is frustrated as to why he isnt making any money. Idk. Some characters turn out to be older versions of younger characters who travelled backwards in time. Including this guy who is executed by his younger self.
>>
>>82876102
Of course, seems I'll be continuing to keep you company on the thread too.
>>82876131
I see, I see. It'd be a nice plot twist if there wasn't any actual time travel and the guy who visited him was just a loon or someone messing with him. Time travel in stories always gets sticky, after all. As far as things being more even, the primitive king would have lots of experience in warfare and experienced men more than likely. With whatever tech is leftover too, they'd likely be able to scrap some explosives together.

Could have him do lots of probing attacks, trying to figure out what weaknesses the castle might have and so on too. Have the plot slowly build. You'd imagine that the high-tech king also wouldn't be able to as easily refurbish or replace broken equipment, either. Could have plots to sabotage his equipment and get him to become more and more paranoid.

Imagine having freedom over your own artwork and even in your own imagination you put facial piercings onto your cartoon face. God needs to flood earth again
