Even at highly-ranked schools, your average English or history class will have a professor uninterested in teaching stand up and give a half-assed lecture straight from the textbook and then assign a "quiz" to be taken on the student's own time, fully online without any safeguards against cheating. Most of the work is produced and evaluated by ChatGPT. The university system has been completely RAPED by over-enrollment, immigration, declining standards, DEI, administrative bloat, and a thousand other things. Even worse, a degree is simultaneously necessary to break into white collar work and also completely useless (unless you went to a top school) at indicating your knowledge in a subject area.
