Reject relationships. Embrace hardware synthesizers.
>>
I tricked guitar center into selling me a 2k piano for 600 and its been sitting there for the past 2 years. I wish I had the discipline to learn how to play the piano.

Reject synths embrace modular patching
>>
What is a hardware synthesizer? What do you do with it? Why is it desirable?
>>
>>82887532
Don't bother. Get a synthesizer with a sequencer that locks to scale and you don't have to worry. Pianos are archaic garbage. Sell it and get a Synthstrom Deluge, Circuit Tracks, or Syntakt

>>82887533
I support modular synthesis but I can't afford it.

>>82887546
A hardware synthesizer is a physical electronic instrument that generates and processes sound using built-in circuits. Musicians use its buttons, knobs, and sliders to play melodies, design new sounds from scratch, and create complex audio textures. It is desirable for its tactile, hands-on workflow and unique sonic character, which many find more immediate and creatively inspiring than software.

I've always found these really cool, especially with what some people have done with earlier video games but I'm a retard who doesn't know dogshit about music or making it

You really don't need to know anything about music to use one of these. Just enough patience to learn the workflow. Once you are in scale mode every note will sound correct
>>
i wanted either a Minimoog or a MicroKORG as a teenager. but my working-class family needed money for food and shit.
and yet if my mother had loved me enough to get me a cool synthesizer, i would not be the hateful incel i am today.

Fucking based.
Jones needs his money for gear
>>
>>82887762
I'm sorry to hear that. It's never too late to step out of your shell and buy a Microkorg II. They're really nice and just added some crazy new sequencer options in the latest firmware.
>>
>>82887760
Knowing me, I'd buy it and do nothing with it. My electric guitar, drawing table have been gathering dust. I can absolutely attribute it to my laziness, but also impatience and fear (I know, I'm a fag) of putting time into something and being absolute shit at it. Like my guitar, I thought I'd be super excited to learn to play, but it started to feel like work more than whimsical fun and genuine interest if that makes sense. tl;dr excuses

real piano or electric?
>>82887519
dude I want this motor synth so bad, it sounds so fucking cool but I don't know enough about synths to ever justify dropping 2 grand on it
>>
>>82887619
Oh. I don't know how to play instruments or compose music, so I don't think this is for me.
>>
>>82887959
You literally just randomly press buttons until it sounds good

>>82887950
That's a crazy synth. I'm dubious about it but I don't have an ear for synth quality I'm not into shitty improvised IDM

>>82887866
Yeah I hear you.. This hobby is about noodling primarily for me. Guitar is work
>>
>>82888003
>You literally just randomly press buttons until it sounds good

And what if it never sounds good?
>>
>>82888016
Nobody hears it except you so it's not a problem
>>
>>82887519
This stuff seems 100% useless to me. I would get infinitely more value out of instruments, a better microphone, and a better audio interface
>>
>>82888016
It will sound good eventually. That's why you record everything and keep the best parts.
Then you arrange those parts into songs
>>
>>82887519
i fuck women, retard. don't give a shit about your thread

For me, its the Minilogue XD. Despite its limited polyphony, mini keys and lack of a comprehensive modulation matrix, it nonetheless is capable of making some great sounds using its combination of analogue and digital oscillators. Onboard effects, a decent sequencer with parameter motion recording and arpeggiator make the Minilogue XD one of the best beginner-friendly options for those looking to dip their toes into the, at times, overwhelming word of hardware synthesizers. Did you know that the Minilogue XD also comes as a module, and that multiple units can be chained together to increase the polyphony?

can you make a rza type beat

i think you're going to need this
