I would say these are normal to have but in reality most people give in to a weakness they swore not to. You won't avoid being seen as exotic by bystanders but wanting to be seen as an equal by your bf is a fair ask. I would be thinking about the differences in our cultures and if there were compromises to be made for certain events and such. I would want my gf to be lenient and not force me to obey a tradition, etc. I assume you think the same way.
