A whole bunch of weirdos want to become one counciousness because they all believe life is suffering as induviduals so they want these space angels to come down and turn everyone to tang so they all can become one entity.Understandably, most people dont wanna become tang so they are fighting the space angels using giant cyborgs made out of dead angels.Something like that.I've given up trying to make any sense of it and anno probably just made a mecha anime and chucked in whatever he wanted into the script for that week.

The Holy Spirit of masculinity and magic of angelic realms is joined to Lilin the children of Lilith, which was created from the race on Earth. When they all embrace Christianity they understand and love each other and become soup.
