what the fuck is up with boomers and their extreme pro social bullshit?

I'm 32 and still have to deal with boomers in my family thinking that I can be "socialised" into liking menial social chit chat and surface level relationships I have absolutely no interest in. trying to get me have back and forth text conversations with empty cliche platitudes about life and wanting me to come along to shit like their church groups

please leave me the fuck alone

understandable, depths of the ocean have no desire to make friends with a puddle

Idk man. It's hard to articulate to them that people like us better function mentally when alone and why. Going to a "party" or "church" wont help me but things like media or maybe reading a bible do or would. They do not comprehend how easy it actually is for hermits to love life and enjoy themselves when alone.

Well, I'll talk from my experience. I work as a programmer, and most people in the company are normies. I also have a friend group I hang out with mostly out of habit and routine. "Normal" people are extremely narrow-minded, and theyre incapable of accepting any kind of behavior that doesnt fit within their guidelines of whats normal.
I've gotten in trouble at work for not wanting to join a weekend BBQ with coworkers, and Ive gotten puzzled looks from friends who simply dont understand that Id rather stay at home reading a book or watching a movie than go out and do the same thing again: have dinner, drink, and have meaningless conversations for the millionth time.
Hell, I became fully aware of this during the COVID lockdown, which was literally the best time for me in the past decade because no one bothered me.

tl;dr: Thats how normies work, OP. Youre right in your position, but be prepared to be shunned.

Shit like that should be illegal
