the placement of the p looking things represent playing the notes in a specific way (from G A B C D E F i think) and also whether or not it's a flat note or normal one idk. it also denotes how you're supposed to play them (like the specific timeframes between the notes (like the black ones i think show that you're supposed to play them closer together or tighter?)

I know what all of the symbols mean, the pianissimos, the sharps, the naturals, the rests, and the time signatures, the same way that a functionally illiterate person can tell you how to pronounce the letters of the alphabet but still not be able to read fluently.

I wish my high school music class actually taught about music theory but it ended up being a chaotic free for all period because the teacher was a permanent substitute who was too busy acting cool trying to impress and make friends with all the students
It was fun, don't get me wrong, but I didn't learn SHIT

Yes - functionally illiterate. Unless every single consideration for perfection is made in your dialogue when communicating online, you are illiterate, through and through. No if and buts about it. The point - what you were aiming to highlight - matters less than the more pressing issue of how the text is laid out and looks, for the viewing pleasure of the anonymous reader. Thank you for highlighting such an important issue with what I said, for no reason at all.

do you need to know how to read it fluently? it should help you figure out how to play it if you're unsure from just hearing the piece. knowing how to learn a piece instantly is some circus shit and not the point of music

Who are you? What do you want? You're not the same person as >>82919933 you're a rabblerouser go away

It would be nice. Knowing how to read and write means knowing how to communicate. Frank Zappa said that he learned how to write music because he realized that he could get other people to play the things that he thought like that. Brian Wilson could make up a part for someone to play on the spot and write it down. That sounds like a fun skill to have.

it does not have to be fluent. fluency is probably something they picked up along the way, not a goal they strived for

Hmm maybe I should learn to play the piano
>>

Playing a physical instuments I've always seen as just a nearly impossible skill to learn. Niggas are just built different. If I tried to learn how to make music then I'd just make beats with computer programs or something that maybe seems easier to me.

Piano is a great instrument. It's very straight forward & easier to sight read than guitar. You can also make a keyboard sound like any instrument on earth.

my parents made me learn french instead of music and im still fucking bitter about it

It's not really hard to learn how to read. You could learn in an afternoon. Writing decent music is a lot more difficult albeit.
