i dont understand normies addiction to tiktok/reels/shorts. my sister will watch tiktok 12 hours a day like its crack. ive tried it and it just really bores me. at most ill watch some youtube shorts but my entire feed is just japanese cooking videos for some reason and that gets dull kind of quick. am i missing something robots?

It's called short form content and research shows it is highly engaging, by far the most valuable form of information out there. You can look at the number of books a person reads but unless it's woman oriented stuff like porn or generic ya fiction they aren't likely to go through more than six books a month. Even at 12 books a month non-fiction compare that to hundreds of videos a month. A short form can be summed up in two or three words, trivial to process and paints a clear picture of consumers. Try doing that with a book. What part did the consumer like, why are they reading it, what do they like? You're almost better off reading the lines of their palms.Short form video on the other hand, it's not just collecting the videos watched, it's collecting what's skipped, rewatched, demographics, device information, people they interact with, nobody reads the eulas so you could even tap their microphone and hear how often they blow up the toilet. Constipation or diarrhea, there's a product for that. Sleep patterns. Many people are stupid enough they even wear biometrics. You can see their heart rate and respirations and use that as an added way of measuring engagement.As for why it's popular, I already answered that. It's good for advertising and population monitoring. Look at the shit on TV. Nobody likes any of that stuff. Put it in front of them and they'll watch it regardless of whether they enjoy it or not. It's just how humans work. It was an intentional move by advertisers to stop producing shows like Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle. Much better to promote gay life and city life. Captive audience, you can tell people what they like. From there you're just minmaxing to get them to buy shit.
