I'm sick of it. My default setting is to just let people get away with being rude, unfair, or unkind, then seethe about it later for ages. It makes me hate the person and become anxious around them, making our relationship worse. It's a lose-lose situation where I beat myself up for not doing anything in the moment, and I hate the person for what they said. How do I change this?

Voice your concerns as if you were never taught manners. Speak your mind plainly. Either they will accept you or they will not, either way your problem will be solved.

It's good advice. Now I just need the courage and self belief to do it.

I understand. I go through the same motions and it leads to me blowing up. At the end of the day, if people don't like it they can make the choice to cease contact with me and as I make no effort to socialize to begin with I will not miss them.
