was in love with The Hobbit. i took it out from the library multiple times as a kid. first full novel i read. just this amazing adventure, like a standard fairytale on steroids.i think i memory-holed it or something because the first Lord of the Rings film came out a few years later, and i somehow didn't realise there was a connection. i'd heard of the books but even though it was about hobbits, had Bilbo, etc. it was very separate in my mind.so then i read the LotR book trilogy and discovered it was INCREDIBLY boring.
>>83272440For books, it was probably The Hobbit for me as well. For films, it was probably The Prince of Egypt. I was captivated by the strange mixture of sorrow and transcendence it presented. Same with The Lord of the Rings books and films.
