helloi am reading 'Dangerous Visions' the science-fiction anthology by Harlan Ellison.some good authors in it. although, as far as 1960s-taboo-busting goes, there isn't really much that's particularly out there.
>>83276858Looks interesting What you mean by taboo busting
>>83276884the crazy Harlan Ellison man told authors they could write ANYTHING without fear of censorshipbut in practice it's just>the aliens are racist>(also, someone has sex)

i just finished reading three books actually, all on the same day
My friend wrote a book on philosophy (epistemology/ontology) that's too advanced for me, but I'm chewing through it. Maybe I'll just add that he's not a schizo and very well accredited lol. He's going into clinicial psychology now.Still wanna support my boy and give him the best feedback I can. He's looking for revisions and a credible editor and then looking to get published next year.
A book about the history of books in ancient greece/rome, nicer than I expected.Hate that it's taking me ages to pick up a damn book, once I start things go well.
Call me a philistine or whatever, but I have given up on reading literature. I genuinely lack the interest, I find it such a boring and pointless activity most of the time. I spent lots of money on books I thought I'd enjoy only to read 50 pages and drop them forever. My bookshelf now is just manga, math textbooks, the I Ching, the Tao Te Ching, and Ludwig Wittgenstein. To answer your question, I'm reading Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind currently.
>>83278277You're a philistine. Also it sounds like an attention span issue, or you're reading things you genuinely do not find interesting. So maybe try switching it up.
>>83278277>don't call me a bad word but I only read comicsIf you feel self-conscious about it, you don't need to post it. Enjoy your manga. There's a whole board for it.
>>83276838Count of Monte Cristo. Currently on chapter 34; it's a slow burner section, especially compared to the jail break scene, but I have high expectations for this book.>>83278277The Tao Te Ching is a good theological book, but for God's sake, get better aesthetic taste.
>>83278277thats because fiction sucks. why the heck would i waste my time reading self-aggrandising power fantasies from some overly emotional fag. technical reference books and philosophy is genuinely the only books worth reading
>>83276838Chinese webnovels poorly translated into English. I read "I am more paranoid than the female lead" but I do not like how the story is progressing so I am not going to read more of it. I am waiting for "Great Demon" to finish being translated, I read about half of it two or three times a few years ago and put it on hold because the guy was taking forever to release updates. It's about a great demon who was originally a phoenix who fell to demonhood when she was being executed. She steals a dragon egg from some heavenly dragon royal line and hatches it, keeps it with her but eventually the girl is returned and they presumably go back to being mortal enemies. Except the immortal dragon lord(girl) likes the great demon. Updates were too slow so I put it on hold. I don't like cliffhangers and I could tell their reunion was close at hand but it was only halfway through and chinese people love their drama (me too that's why I read it kek).
