Why dont Unis just ban AI? Seems like such an easy solution
>>
>>83279978
They did, but it's hard to detect the use of AI in submitted works.
>>
>>83279978
I'm guessing you're one of those retards who thinks the solution to gun violence is just as simple as banning guns.
>>
one thing i think about a lot is how TAs grade so many papers and don't steal ideas

Well we got rid of alcohol a hundred years ago didn't we?
>>
>>83280013
They run the work through AIs that detect AI output.
Clown world problems require clown world solutions.
>>
>these people will go on to being the engineers creating critical infrastructure
Just cant wait
>>
>>83279978
It's not hard to recognize llmsloppa in essays and that shit, so you'll fail because of the work being shit or plagiarism. Also llms can't help with exams written on paper. Tho most professors just don't care knowing tards are just hurting themselves
>>
>>83280088
>most professors just don't care
This is it. Most in education simply don't care. From the students to the professors to the faculty.
>>
>>83279978
based. I AI ever single assignment I do in college because most of it is pointless garbage, and I feel mentally healthier than when i used to cram meaningless info I forgot instantly for no reason when AI just does it for me. The education system is a cancer
>>
>>83280048
Engineer major here the grading scale here is already curved to make courses super easy. Like for example in physics 2 the grading
scale is curved so that a 50 is a D which is still a passing grade so its basically impossible to fail
Its really not hard to become an engineer if you are decent at math
>>
>>83280129
And then retards like you'll cry why nobody wants to hire then
>>
>>83280162
To be fair, you SHOULD do homework without ai, but at the same time its not a big deal, because what matters is passing exams. If you pass the exam, you know the material, so whats the big deal?
>>
>>83280188
>If you pass the exam, you know the material, so whats the big deal?
Because even blacks can pass them
>>
>>83280188
Usually because course curricula are designed to hit multiple learning/teaching goals and only some of those goals are covered on the exam, so by skipping everything but the exam you actually miss half the course you just spent thousands of dollars for?
>>
>>83280046
>run the work through AIs that detect AI output
This only filters the brainlets that prompt the AI with "do my homework for me", then copypaste it. If you customize it to adopt a unique style, you can make it sound completely different. You can use system prompts and give it examples of texts along with instructions to make it adopt a similar style. Also, a lot of what the education system has always expected is literally just generic essays that follow a cookie cutter format very similar to what LLMs tend to do by default.
>>
>>83280216
No matter how you prooompt it's pretty easy to recognize
>>
>>83280202
If it's a course that can be successfully cheated on with AI, then it's extremely rare for it to teach any kind of skill that you'd actually apply at a job.
>>
>>83280134
idk where you are but out of all the Engineering majors I know that graduated only like 3 are in their field and I might be the only one doing any actual engineering design
I was a 4.0 student, the 3 guys were smart too. The rest were "coasting", as they say.
>>
>>83280198
Because the material isnt very difficult. Its not rocket science. Its not quantum mechanicss. You dont need a 140 IQ to understand dynamics, or calculus 2/3, or physics, or circuits. You just need to pay attention.

>>83280202
Yeah sure. But As long as you understand the material and pass the exams youre good. And if you pass the exams and the finals you know the material.
Besides ai isnt 100% accurate. Makes mistakes all the time
You wont get a 100% on homeworks or quizzes using ai.
>>
>>83280220
>No matter how you prooompt it's pretty easy to recognize
Not true at all, give me an AI checking website and I'll trick it.
>>
>>83280232
You don't need another ML model so see if some slop is generated by llms or not.
>>
>>83280229
>Because the material isnt very difficult
Everything non trivial is difficult for niggers yet they and spics like you pass
>>
I think the people here arguing exams arent sufficient enough are underestimating how easy college is if you just study for a few hours. Calculus isnt hard.
Any person could learn calculus. Indian kids learn calculus like its nothing.
Any black kid can learn calculus
It just needs to be taught well
>>
>>83280253
>non trivial
Only if you never study and have basically no background in math.
Calculus 1,2,3 can be mastered in a couple months, respectively.
You must find it difficult if you think its difficult.
>>
Its not about race
Thats retarded
Theres no learning calculus gene
Its just called paying attention and understanding patterns
Math is just patterns
Anyone can learn patterns
>>
>>83280272
>doesn't deny being a spic
Not good muchacho not good
>>83280254
>Any black kid can learn calculus
Because mutts don't learn actual calculus
>>
>>83280253
Btw I am black.
I aced all my exams in Calculus 3 so far
Because its just patterns
Mathematics, Science, Engineering
Its all just patterns
Repeat and you learn the patterns
Doesnt require a very high IQ
>>
>>83280288
>Theres no learning calculus gene
>Math is just patterns
There are genes that determine how good people are at pattern recognition, ie. there are calculus learning genes
>>
>>83280310
Incorrect
Because the patterns are very trivial.
We arent figuring out any new theorems
Its all given to us
Its just practicing patterns over and over again
A 90 IQ will take longer to learn the pattern over a 120 IQ
But its the same pattern
Anyone can learn it.
>>
>>83280328
you seriously underestimate how bad a 90iq is at maths, as ability to recognise patterns is THE hallmark measure for IQ.
>>
>>83280299
Dont know what this means
At my university we use the James Stewart textbook
Is this not actual calculus
>>
>>83280346
Mhm. Theres literally no reason a 90 IQ cant learn calculus though. Its not hard at all.
Integrals and derivatives are simple concepts anyone can understand
>>
>no homework
>no group projects
>three exams, paper and pencil, in-class
There I solved your education "crisis"
>>
>>83280381
Eh
Homework is good
But it should be OPTIONAL
I had a professor who evaluated the grade in two ways
One was just exams
Other way was exams plus 50% of homework with one bad exam grade being dropped
Some students learn well with homework guided them
Some dont
Its better to have a system that allows for different learning styles and doesnt punish the student
>>
>>83279978
Okay so they ban it now what?
Schools ban calculators too
School ain't the real world buddy
They are beholden to the real world not the other way around
>>
>>83280202
>course you just spent thousands of dollars for
not an Amerimutt, my course amounts to about the price of four big macs lmao.
90% of coursework is just slop to fill the time and give the professors something to standardize their syllabus for so they can have a cushy career teaching the same shit the same way for decades. What matters is that I pass the exam at the end.
College degrees are only relevant for the first job you get out of college anyways, afterwards any further jobs will judge you based on experience and references.
Unless you yourself go into academia all academia is an adult daycare scam.
>>
>>83279978
Here in the UK, education is just fucked in general. In secondary schools, any subject that doesn't have concrete correct/incorrect answers for it has been raped into a complete meme by this insane push for "standardisation" and the desire to remove absolutely any fun from classes. To chudtards on 4chan this may sound great, people are finally going to grow up knowing that education is pointless and the most based and aryan thing is to become a fucking 80 IQ bricklayer, except we're also currently raising a huge percentage of the population to be practically incapable of independent thought because subjects which are supposed to teach that like English have had that gutted from them in favour of braindead exam drills. We are SO fucked.
>>
>>83280828
Who cares? You will all speak Urdu in less than 15 years anyways.
>>
>>83280225
>job
No relevance on how you did in school usually. Just others in your class probably networked better
>>
>>83280013
Just stop grading based on homework
>>
>>83280828
Honestly school has always been fucked, we just didn't notice because we were kids.
If the man teaching you isn't a great man, can he really teach you something valuable? Yeah it's worse because now they're all braindead women, but even at the time the men teaching weren't necessarily people to learn from
Feels like education has been paywalled from the start. If a teacher is actually great he often ends up in some expensive private school while you get the scraps.
>>
>>83281068
(not to imply private teachers must be great, there must be plenty of dumb fucking assholes in there too)

The only reason I go to school is to keep my mind occupied before I kill myself, i had a spine injury and live in pain every day, I have enough money to live for some time and I can't stay in my room forever, i go to school just to get the illusion that my life is going somewhere and I have something to look forward to even though the only thing that awaits me in 4 years is a bullet tot he skull.

clanker give me a summary of this 30 page article. clanker explain this abstract technical concept. clanker write an outline of an analysis of this phenomenon through the perspective of israelsberg's theory of judaism.

you can't ban it. so instead they move on to presume its use. so academic creds has become even more worthless. ind rev + consequences.
>>
>>83280202
>miss half the course you just spent thousands of dollars for
This is such a retarded take. You spend the total cost of your education as an investment that you hope will be paid back suitably with your future income. It's also an extremely easy investment to make because the government will give you unlimited free money to pursue this even if (especially if) you start with nothing. Learning is simply not the point, you're paying for a certification to put on your resume in essence.

Plus, 99%+ of entry level jobs, when you graduate, you seriously use MAYBE the stuff from your first year introductory classes. Nobody expects college graduates to still be able to essentially nail an exam from one of their upper level classes again. Industry is so far gone from academia that it's barely relevant and since everybody just crams it and forgets it the expectation of having retained everything just isn't there.
>>
>>83280406
>optional
Basically this. Once you get into serious classes it mostly is, anyway. It's more like "recommended practice" and you better do it if you want to pass the exam.
