As someone who is generally considered to be right-wing libertarian, I think it's time for unconditional UBI. The technology exists for automation in pretty much every industry. I went on a brewery tour the other day of a big company and it's just a robot with a few token floor staff and dozens of HRoasties. There's no incentive to hire even most skilled people now. Use this technology for good and give everyone an allowance to bridge into the post-scarcity era, or human civilization has reached its meridian. Let plebs like me eat for free and spend our time engaging in philosophy in order to become a Type I, and eventually II and III civilization, or be overrun by idiocracy and fall into decline. Many more things can and should become public goods.
