my conversations with men mostly consist of trading small talk, politnessess, anecdotes etc. UNTIL we hit on something that sparks our imagination, that we have responses to and want to reflect on or develop our views on. at that point, the conversation really takes off. this has worked great with every man i've tried to talk to. however, with women, this doesn't happen. not ever. sometimes i stumble upon that special topic and try to focus on it, but the woman always brings it back to talking about whatever mundande garbage brought us there. family, school life, boys, the news, economy, meh. my conclusion? men and women simply want different things out of conversation. one is about the things being said and one is purely a social game. if i want to chill and connect with another man, i would just hand them a beer and shut the fuck up, but women seem do it by talking incessantly about trivialities.
