To answer your question, I would think of all the things you enjoyed about him and make it your mission to embody those characteristics, but in your own way of course. You liked his lectures and his bad jokes, so pass that on to the next generations. If you do not have kids find a way to mentor those younger than you. That will be the best way to show him he is not forgotten. You have learned many things from him, so do not let that go to waste.
