I was once very briefly so influential that I prevented a war. I have no idea how many people are not dead because of me but it could be 10s of thousands or maybe even more.

I'm hoping that wasn't the reason for my life being spared through all sorts of odd situations in which I should have died. I'm hoping for something more personal.

Intelligent men are more likely to be socially awkward and thus also more likely to be lonely and depressed. When you take someone like that and suddenly give him a supposed solution while lovebombing them then yeah they'll actually do whatever you want them to do.
