Same. I had no clue people were meeting eachother outside of school until my senior year. As a consequence of this observation I started suspecting that my classmates considered me inferior and their occasional acts of kindness were largely an expression of pity. I never desired their friendship. But it hurts my ego to know most people will always view me as lonely and rejected and as an easy target for mistreatment. It's uncanny that people evaluate you according to some ridiculous status game you never bought into.
