People unironically think this dead man is equivalent to the transcendent, all knowing, all powerful creator of the universe.Like, why? Who picked up this man's story and decided it would become the basis of a religion? The entire thing is completely ridiculous.

Until you experience the Holy Spirit, and experience His love and power, then you may not understand Him. It sounds ridiculous to the carnal mind, but the Bible says that. "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace". Once you experience His Spirit, and love, then you can know that He is real. In His day, Jesus had cleansed lepers, raised the dead and performed many miracles, so of course many of His early followers had died for Him, because they had witnessed His glory first-hand.

So, I can understand your doubt on whether Jesus was real or not, but, if you do not seek Him out with His Word, or humble yourself in prayer then how would you ever experience the power of His Spirit? Look, I'm pretty well-read on the Bible, and I know that He is real, and divine, but, even I don't feel even worthy to speak to you about this, since I am backslidden from Him at-the-moment, but, to tell you some things Jesus has done for my life. He freed me from depression, suicidal thoughts, many drug addictions, saved my life from literal death many times and many other great things. The love and warmth He has poured out to me freely when I was in my darkest times have been such a blessing. The Bible says, to call on Him while He may be found, and that if you seek Him with all your heart you will find Him. But, many people struggle too much with pride to humble themselves before God.

Many Christians of the early Church were executed in horrible ways, thrown to lions, sawn in half, tortured just like Christ was. And, since the Roman Empire had ruled the known world for awhile during the 1st, 2nd and 3rd century, and since they really knew how to torture people, they would execute Christians in horrible ways. It's just that Satan uses people just like how Jesus uses people. Why do we have loonies shooting up churches nowadays in America? Because there are demonized people walking amongst us, and they hate Christ and the followers of Him. There is mass Christian persecution happening in Nigeria right now, and many places in the Middle East. There is nothing new under the sun. In the prophet Jonah's day, when he was called by God to preach at Nineveh, he fled from the Lord because he was afraid, because the people of Nineveh would slay God's people.

If you actually read up on His teachings, you would see that He never had incited anyone to violence, murder, rape or genocide. He chose people to spread the message of the gospel, which is the good news, and He healed many people.
