What's the proper way to break up with a girl on friendly terms? If I didn't care I would just do it like I've done many times before, but I really do love her and care about her. But due to various reasons, which I kind of blame her for, I realized we're never truly going to be together or become a real family. We live about two hours away from each other and we've been doing this for about 4 years now. I actually moved to be closer to her and it was the closet job I could find. For the past 2 years we've only seen each other about 8-10 times total. It use to be every single week, but she's prioritized many other things ahead of our relationship. At the end of the first year there was actually an opening at her job and I asked her if I should apply a bunch of times but she made various excuses like "this isn't the best time" or "what will happen if we break up". Over time openings have come and gone and never once has she called me and told me. She has suggested some other places with other openings in the area but I guess she just never wanted me to work at her place. I've kind of been over it for the past year and a half but I've been dragging my feet. It's almost funny because the farther I've gotten emotionally, the more "loving" and caring she's gotten. It's almost like emotional manipulation to make me feel bad about breaking up with her. I don't know if I have the courage to do it in person
