It is the times you miss, yes. HOWEVER! It is also the people around that you miss. I can go to waybackarchive or something to get back old websites, i can use emulators to play old games just fine. That's all well and good, so what are we missing here? The people, the social part. The old internet? Archived content, bit by bit the same, but the people? All grown up, busy with life or an hero'd. It's the people around that gives it context to the memory. Pokemon is fun in itself but it's even more fun to trade with others in real life. The internet is fun but it's even more fun exploring the wild west together when it was new and full of forums.With only a simulation of the old you won't get the real deal. You need social connections regarding it for it to be real again.
