I would simply leave the household for the day. I'd get in my car and drive somewhere and smoke cigars, drink coffee and get drunk in the backseat. That sounds like a nice Christmas for someone dysfunctional. Thankfully my Christmases are 1 on 1 with my mom and the next day 1 on 1 with my dad.

>>83465606surely your own family knows you well enough to not expect some extravagant performance from you. just sit with them and eat and be polite, crack a few jokes, but most importantly just give what you can and take breaks when you're too drained. im about the same and whenever i have some holiday stuff i do it out of obligation and participate as much as i can, but i will withdraw and sit alone at my computer when i feel the need to. luckily my family have learned to respect that.
