I see a lot of people being nostalgic for how Xmas used to be, particularly in the 90s and late-80s. But, I'd have to disagree; it's kind of nice now, not dealing with the "maximalist" approach to the holiday, what with a full-tree decked out in ornaments and such with dozens of wrapped boxes under it. I miss the 'magic,' sure, but that was all just an aesthetic that wasn't going to last forever anyway. We can never truly go back, only forward.
