nothing makes me more uncomfortable than being in a church. no matter which parish i go to, everyone has a staring problem. it might be the most judgemental atmosphere on earth which is ironic. it all feels very performative, who can stand the longest and straightest, sing the loudest, look the most interested. the worst though is after the service which feels like one big linkedin networking session / speed dating. I try to talk to other young people there but they dont come off as real people. i always leave feeling more alone
>>83477797I've only felt that vibe in a couple "striver" parishes. most are perfectly normal - people just want to fulfill their Sunday obligation
>>83477797It's better to go during the week unironcially. My mom cries during mass and I don't get it. It's boring and you might as well go do something charitable instead of standing while a priest chants and waves around incense. It feel like a magic ritual which I do not like.
