does anyone have family that thinks "gamer" means you want any old peripheral or bootleg gameboy? i know it's the thought that counts but i can't help but feel bad when my family buys me tech that i have no need or want for. this is why gift giving is so dumb. i got this thing that turns your phone into a controller, because i assume my mom thinks i'm playing fucking Battlefield on my phone
>>83478270I feel a bit bad for my nephew, because my uncle is like this. I got a hand me (up?) fighting game controller because he couldn't play fortnite and roblox with it.
>>83478472i don't have anyone to regift it to sadly... and i feel bad because at least they try to get me gifts i give a shit about rather than just socks or whatever... anyway im too old to care about this
>>83478270This post made me pretty sad. That "thought that counts" element comes from such a goodhearted place, yet the object is just junk. What old people must make of this world. Makes me think of that depressing long song that's supposed to acoustically represent progressive dementia.
>>83478690i guess this is what i get for not just asking for something specific, instead of saying i don't want anything. anyway i will just ask her to return it and explain why i don't need it
No, but I catch your drift. Again, it should be the thought that counts, but some gifts really are misplaced. Your version of it doesn't sound so bad, to be honest. It seems like it's rooted in a misunderstanding of the technology rather than a misunderstanding of you. There are worse gifts.
>>83478722well, i spend a lot of time explaining to my mom why i don't want a gift and she continues to ignore me on that front
Gifts are mostly dumb, but you never know. I got a gameboy from my cuz, when I was a kid, and it encrowned me a true gamer.A shitty console can be gold with the right games.
>>83478784ya know... you're not wrong. and maybe i can even find a use for it if i look around. hell one day i might actually need one. thanks man!
>>83478270i can relate to that, my mom got me something like this one yeari appreciate the idea but i can't see myself wanting to play videogames from 50 years ago on a 1 inch screen. this is clearly for kids, i'll give it to the thrift store eventually>>83478690the caretaker - everywhere at the end of time
