With the heavy emphasis on attention to detail, punctuality, and myriad of colorful ribbons and uniforms (all of which have to be prim, starched, and proper), you'd think the military would WANT turbo-autists among their ranks, especially officers.

Most officers are definitely some amount of autistic. However they also want you to be functional enough to hide it, or at least lie to MEPS about it and get away with it.

I mean the air force is full of autists

Can't lie at MEPS anymore, thanks to that Genesis-thing.
>why, no, I'm not allergic to shrimp
>what? you found a record? I was 9 back then...

True, but now they're in the Space Force. Lucky bastards.

I mean NOW, you know. 2020 Changed quite a few things, so I think this particular change took place in 2022...or '23. The last 5 years have been kind of a blur, really.

>>83479179
ugh, I remember that. I wanted to be a sailor though.

Ah, guess I wouldn't have heard about it then.

Ah well, only shooting themselves in the foot. Recruiting is already in the fucking toilet.

>>83479069
wouldn't be surprised, especially in the senior ranks

You're forgetting that 70% of autists are also fucktards incapable of working. Even the "high-functioning" ones often suffer from other ailments that make them more challenging than normies.
>>
I think the bigger issue is that officers often act as managers. There are plenty of officers who have poor social skills, but they're perfectly capable managers (at least in the eyes of the people above them). But I think an autist would struggle with 'good enough' or obeying a superior's orders when they think they're wrong. If you want to be very hands on with your work, it might be better to enlist or become a warrant officer.
