The threats and the cuts might not have meant anything, they might have meant that she felt unsafe or was preparing for you to leave. Getting too close is dangerous for them, so they might push you away; if you get pushed too far, that's dangerous too so they act out to bring you back in. It's all a balancing act and it must be exhausting for most people. I don't know why I like it but I do. I find them easier to interact with than autistics or normies.
