My car is going to shit. Someone on here a little while ago suggested the issues were spark plugs/coils, and that was PART of the issue... but now it's making some frightening sounding noises and I'm so scared that it won't last much longer at allAnd I just needed it to last literally one more month before I get started with my second job and then I'd at least be able to barely make things work. But the sounds are scary and I doubt it's gonna make it a month And I have nobody at all to turn to for help. One of the underrated issues with being a recluse with social anxiety who barely connects with anyone, is that you don't build friendships that can help you when times are rough. It's so normal for friends to help friends. But I never got to make friends so now I'm just desperate and alone and have no idea what to doPlease try to make friends even if it's hard and requires some compromise, and please at least try to get some work, some of you might be doing the whole NEET thing but that could always be cut off at any moment, and life is scary when you are unprepared and don't have support to help you
What type of noise? Maybe it is the engine mount or maybe it is the transmission? Does it tremble when it is idle?
Have you kept up with oil changes at appropriate intervals? Get a cheap fault code reader and scan for error codes, or do this at a garage (this is a cheap service actually)
>>83498310I took a video of the sound earlier, I'm sharing that here, if you want to check it outhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1a_TPofn9Pu6zDOG0R0wn-mbjXxDrRWMW/view?usp=drivesdkIt used to make that sort of sound but, idk, basically just slowerAnd it definitely has some issues with the transmission, when I took it in to get the plugs/coils done, the mechanic said the transmission is probably in bad shape but that I'd have to get that done elsewhere and that it would probably be expensive :(As for trembling when idle, maybe a little, but it trembles more when moving due to cvt judder >>83498338I've tried but I've been a bit of a wreck the past year and I sort of just topped off the oil a couple times with stuff I got from walmart. This is probably really stupid but to be fair I'm an underemployed failure loser who has been living out of his car, so I don't know if I'm ever going to be good at life
>>83498397>bought a car with cvt
>>83498592To be fair, I didn't buy it, it was a hand-me-down. It was either "accept that gift" or "have no car"
Uh so does that mean the transmission is shot and on the verge of failure :(
>>83498397The torque converter in my last car went bad and it sounded exactly like this, the torque converter is part of the transmission system so that's probably what the mechanic was talking about. I was able to drive mine for a few months like that and I scrapped it before it ever gave out on me.And while oil changes wouldn't have prevented this issue, you absolutely need to be getting them done, otherwise your engine will die. It's even possible that no oil changes could kill your car before the torque converter gives out. Go to one of those quickee lube places, it costs $100 takes 15 minutes and you stay in your car.
>>83498951So it was making that sound - at that sort of speed? For a few months? Or was it making that sound at a slower speed? The car only started making that sound at that sort of speed last night, so if I could potentially make it last another few months, I might actually be able to surviveAnd understood, I know it's stupid that I didn't get an oil change. I did pour in some more oil at least but I get that that's not a real replacement for a full oil change
honestly I'm glad I'm full NEET and don't have to deal with this "car" bullshit most other Americans I know have to deal with. Fuckin hate cars, hate jobs, hate women. Making friends as an adult doesn't happen. Instead of convincing us not to be NEETs maybe you should sell that fucking car that's stressing you out so much and become one of us, dumby.
>>83498971The video you posted it looks like you're stopped completely. But yes it would make that sort of grinding noise at low speeds/rpms, it would go away in a certain rpm range, and then at highway speeds the car would rumble and shake. And yes I drove it for a few months like that, shitting my pants everytime. And topping off the oil if it's low is good and will prevent a catastrophic failure (your engine will literally explode, ask me how I know) but yes do get a full oil change.
>>83498990>>83498990European or something? Because in a bunch of those non American countries, there's issues with declining birthrates, aging populations, and pension spending that might lead to major restructuring of their welfare states (and the elderly are usually the last to be cut, so it could lead to younger folks just getting less benefits and being pushed more to work more in order to support the olds)I mean I hope it keeps working out for you! But there's just some reasons to think it might not last foreverAnd I can't become one of you, because I'm American and have a sizable record of having at least some degree of minimal employment, and in order to NEET in America, you need to basically be totally incapable >>83498996Ok maybe I can pull this off. I'm so scared but I might be able to make things work. Might have someone whose couch I can sleep on for a little while, who is near where I'd be working. But goddamn even if I make it that long, I know used cars are so expensive now so finding a new (used) car is going to be just another major headache and goddammit I suck at life so much and just really wish I was better at it, I hate this so much, idk why I have to be so much worse at this shit than everyone else :(
>>83499040You should be scared. They design places like this to break men like us.
>>83499150I just wish things weren't like this. I'm not perfect but I genuinely want to be productive and helpful, yet all I've ever done is struggle and fail while many people who are outright predatory and shitty to others often succeed greatly in life. I know life isn't fair and it never will be but it sucks that that's true :/
