Most of the dei movement was invisible. When White men went from being about half of the hires to less than 10% what did this mean for companies like Kodak, gamestop, blockbuster, pier 1, or toys'r'us? Nobody really knows. Boeing? Sure White men are kind of important, but literally anyone can do the job with enough time.
Now TV is a little different, that's something we all watch. While the effect was insidious, it's impossible not to notice the steady and unyielding decline in quality of writing and even premises. Movies and shows were rarely brilliant, but everyone can look back favorably on at least a few things. Less so after 2010, really drying up by 2015, after 2020 there's basically nothing. Sure there's new shit being made all the time, but I don't recognize anything when nieces/nephews have something on. If I bother to watch five minutes I don't relate to any characters, find the jokes funny, or even appreciate the art style. It's all just kind of samey, low effort, and garbage. Maybe I'm racist, or maybe I'm just getting old.
