I feel like people who gatekeep anything that's a subculture, whether it's being goth or being a gamer or being a stoner or being an epic nerd or whatever, are only doing so because they never grew out of the "stop copying me" phase everyone goes through as a kid.
>>83511896subcultures are lame. imagine "belonging" to someone else
>>83511946being too unique for subcultures is also a subculture
>>83511896And what's wrong with that?Let me tell you what ruins and destroys subcultures more than anything; not fucking gatekeeping.
>>83512039but you can't ruin subculturesif someone else is badly copying you, that's their problem. You're on your own doing your own thing aren;t you?
>>83512074That's not how subcultures work, the new people continually pour in and warp it, eventually it's barely recognizable or at the very least much more surface level than it was originally, even going so far as to ostracize the original members.
