Homemade Sweet and sour chicken :D OMAD what are you guys eating today?
>>83518462Do you post because you're lonely or what?
>>83518474I like taking pictures of food is that bad?
>>83518482No it's fine you just post a lot and I was wondering why you do so. Isn't instagram better for sharing pics?
>>83518492ive made 4 posts in total? I don't like instagram.
>>835185054 posts so far! I can see the trends. By this time next year it'll be 369 posts.
>>83518533I've only post dishes I have cooked . I won't be cooking everyday. I won't be cooking at all soon
Today I'm eating a pound of raw beef heart with half a stick of unsalted butter. Probably 6 raw eggs too
>>83518554>I won't be cooking at all soonWhy not? Are you going to prison? Do you have a terminal illness? Have you come into a large amount of money and will be hiring help?
>>83518580Why raw ? :o
>>83518588I will kill myself
>>83518492>>83518474Why is /r9k/ so against building a mutual community here. Let our fellow robots post their food. We're a family for crying out loud!
>>83518599Why are you killing yourself anon?>>83518600I'm not against it I'm just asking questions anon. Why are you here why are you posting what do you want?>>83518462I am eating chocolate today, a pound of shredded chicken, a lot of beans. Some other assorted things.
>>83518592Cooking causes nutrient loss and destruction. It also creates a lot of toxins out of the constituents of food
>>83518615Life is boring there's nothing fun to it. I'm desensitised to everything . I use cooking to pass time not because I enjoy it
>>83518648Why not find other things to pass the time with? Life gets boring, but it can get better at times too. Do you want someone to talk to for a while?
>>83518667I don't need anyone . I can't feel a connection with anyone or talk to someone for a long period of time without getting bored. I've tried countless times and it's the same outcome. I've tried therapy drugs alcohol nothing helps. All activities to me are boring. Talking to someone gets boring. Life is numb and i just want to sleep forever
>>83518462Looks tasty OP, gj!I'm sick and lazy today, so I'm going to make a big 'ole double batch of Kraft Mac, and throw in some extra sharp cheddar and leftover Christmas ham.>>83518474Aren't we allowed to talk about something other than hating our lives and romantic prospects, for like one thread a day? Cmon.
>>83518696I feel the same way. People always say "You spend 1/3 of your life sleeping" but I wish it was 2/3. Dreaming, and sleeping is the only time I truly feel at peace. You have to want to be awake, to enjoy it. And there's nothing enjoyable about it.
>>83518696Yeah I can't feel connections either and people bore me quickly. Talk a bit, complain about whatever, then go away. It's fine. I just want to sleep forever too.
>>83518462looks really good anon, good job! today i ate bread with cheese because i was too depressed to cook anything.
>>83518462I cooked up a cup of jasmine rice, a can of black beans, and a generous topping of laoganma for today's big meal.
>>83518462I pan fried some diced beef braising steak. It was surprisingly edible. I was worried it might be too tough.
>>83518462>>83518846Forgot to ask, what did you use to make the sauce? The ones I had tend to look more red. Also what kind of noodles did you use? Spring onion as a garnish is always nice though!
>>83518492Ad opposed to all the bait threads up right now? Kys retard
>>83518897I used egg noodles and the sauce was made using ketchup honey white vinegar onions sauce garlic tomatoe paste and pineapple juice
>>83518930S-o-y sauce ,forgot about the silly bypass
>>83518943onion sauce would be good
>>83518600because it's attention seeking behaviour that's whyand i'm not your family weirdo
>>83519509>attentionseekingposting food is attention seeking now but not the countless porn and incel threads? lol
>>83518462How do you make your sweet and sour sauce OP?I use 1/2cup ketchup, 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/2 cup sugar, 2tbsp orange jam, and a tsp of salt. That produces a really saucy version. But for a lighter coating where the chicken/pork can stay crispy I use 1/4 cup sugar, 1tsp cornstarch, 2.5tbsps water and white vinegar, and 2 grams of salt.
>>83519925here vvv>>83518930>>83518943cornstarch also to thicken
>>83518462Nice. Fuck the h8ers and roasties
>>83518930>>83519925Interesting. I'm Chinese and I've never tried to make sweet and sour sauce lol. I rarely make Chinese food. I've only made fried rice once.
>>83518588Eat shit and die troon OP should prepare you a dish
>>83520021I'm so confused by your response that I have no face
>>83520004chinese food is my favourite cusine. this is the way they make it in fastfood places :) authentic chinese dishes use rice vinegar brown sugar chinese 7 spice etc
>>83520004Sweet and sour pork/chicken is one of the most represented Chinese dishes without a clear origin story. Henan, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Shandong, and Guangdong/Canton all claim to have made the first recipe but it was spread to the United States mainly via Cantonese immigrants as they were employed to construct Gold Rush era railroads. Therefore the Cantonese version is assumed to be the be the origin at least in the western point of view. It's probably more interesting to non-Chinese. Actual Chinese people probably don't have the same connection to it. >I rarely make Chinese food. I've only made fried rice once.I mean, I am an Amerimutt, ethnically I'm split all over Europe, but I have never made a food from Europe except for a few English savory pie recipes. English and Slavic foods do look interesting, and Mediterranean and French foods get enough popularity on their own that it's not very interesting from a home-cooking point of view. I had a Korean roommate in college who had worked at a food stall in Korea before, so it was really lucky for me and got me into Asian food in general. Korean was my first favorite style of food but then I evolved to like Chinese recipes more and a lot of the techniques are the same. Since we both liked to eat the same food, we saved on groceries by just eating at the same time. This was the closest thing to a friend I ever had and I really miss it. We went through so much picrel we even jointly developed a mimic recipe for it.
>tfw a board full of gay sex and suicidal depression has been mogging /ck/ for years
Damn, both of you know a lot about Asian cuisine!>>83520046I quite like it too, but like French cuisine sometimes I feel it's too serious if that makes sense. I'd rather have something simpler. Have to say I've never tried the westernised version. I do want to give it a go although I will need to find a good restaurant. I don't want to eat curry and chips lol. Are there any authentic Chinese places where you are?>>83520151You're right that it's not that interesting, but it's a staple in canton cuisine. You can find it in bistros and posh hotels. Italian food is worth trying though. It's simple and delicious, and most restaurants somehow don't do the authentic recipes, so you'll have a way better experience at home. I don't think the ingredients are that difficult to get in the US I hope? Main reason I haven't cooked Chinese food much is because I'm lazy and I'd rather just spend the least effort cooking and cleaning lol. Doesn't help that I have to go out of my way to get the proper ingredients. Heh I had a similar experience from living with a couple of Indians. Other problems aside, they did show me some authentic Indian snacks that were really nice. They would spend two hours cooking though, which I could never do. I mean I did make a Bolognese ragu from scratch a few times, but those were outliers, and back then I had a lot more time as a student.
>>83518462That looks great, I had leftover lunch from yesterday, some pig meat in soup with pickles, mushrooms and onions with a bit of mustard in it. I'm Serbian this is our peak cuisine
>>83520518>uisine sometimes I feel it's too serious if that makes sense. I'd rather have something simpler. Have to say I've never tried the westernised version. I do want to give it a go although I will need to find a good restaurant. I don't want to eat curry and chipseh i live in the uk so theyre british - chinese influence. real authentic is always expensive
>>83520536>eh i live in the ukSame>real authentic is always expensiveWait what? Western cuisine is a lot more expensive than any other cuisine. I brought a colleague to an authentic place and we spent just a bit less than 20 GBP each, and there was food leftover. We eat quite a bit too, so the portions really were huge. Or maybe my city is different?
>>83520577its the opposite for me most fastfood chains are cheap like wing shops british chinese food burgers chips all 10 gbp max compared to authentic korean chinese japanese indian places which are 15 gbp minimum
>>83520495>but like French cuisine sometimes I feel it's too serious if that makes sense. There was a movie I watched a long time ago called "Eat Drink Man Woman" that satirized this seriousness aspect of Chinese cooking, the opening sequence where the Chinese chef is called into work to give advice on a soup like a surgeon called into the hospital to save someone's life still amuses me to this day >Italian food is worth trying though. It's simple and delicious, and most restaurants somehow don't do the authentic recipes, so you'll have a way better experience at home. I don't think the ingredients are that difficult to get in the US I hope? The US is a mixed bag. Depending on how rural you are there are limitations, but if you're somewhat near a major city you can probably find anything. In college we were really rural and the ingredients basically only could be found at a local Walmart, so there wasn't much we could do. But nowadays there are also internet delivery companies you can buy specialized ingredients from. I learned about winemaking from John Kirkwood's youtube. I like most Italian food, I think it just hogs the spotlight too much. I especially want to try this variety of wine after my Italian professor in college recommended it, but I might have to make it myself because I literally can't find it otherwise. >they did show me some authentic Indian snacks that were really nice.My neighbors were Nepali and I had a similar experience. They made this salad out of onions, tomato, bell peppers, and some herbs mixed with uncooked ramen noodles. It was bizarre but it was pretty good. I also tried this herbaceous/greenish curry that they made out of goat meat, no offense it's just not agreeable to my palate. It's also interesting that they didn't eat beef even in the US where it's legal, I guess they take that stuff seriously. But back in their home country they have oxen and buffalo that aren't technically cows which fill the demand for beef.
>>83518462This looks great but I dunno how you're on OMAD with just this. I'm having a stew/soup I made with pork, cabbage, beans, vegetables. It's quite nice.
