Could be people in their 40s here, as for me- I'm 25 years old. When did you first start browsing 4Chan? Also, do you have a career and house?
>>
>>83633904

for unc? what?

>>83633910

Started in 2005. Have a career, currently renting a townhome with a friend, not because I can't afford to live on my own, but I don't need a lot of space for myself

Normalfag. Bet you've had sex too.

ohhhh, uncle

Still like video games and rhythm games and seeing my friends. I get lonely, but, at the very least I can indulge myself in my hobbies until I die

I know that feel. I'm put off by most normie activities and aren't interested in most autist hobbies. Don't particularly enjoy human interaction either way. I get excited about very niche things that I don't really have anyone to share the excitement with. Like... did you know you can use ZFS without a GPT/MBR partition table but that the default tool won't even let you create such a configuration without a workaround such as running `zpool create` on a loopback device instead? Crazy stuff, I know.

33 years old here. In 2006 I told a friend in the school library to go to Meatspin for his research project. Of course the fucking librarian walks by at the right time to see a cock spinning in a circle with the music blasting.

She screamed the retard goes "anon told me to do it" and I got expelled from the library for the rest of the school year. I had to do all my research assignments from home. Which was fine because I was the only kid I knew with a PC in their room anyway. But still. 4chan got me in big troublel.

It's funny, because around the shock site phase, that's when I consciously started becoming aware of what "normies" were in society. There were people like me and my best friend who would send shock sites and laugh it off. Call each other a faggot, etc. Then you would think, "oh haha this dude is gonna find this hilarious" and show some classmate 2girls1cup and they are physically ill over it. That's why I hang out with the robots and the rest of the internets gutter here on 4chan for 18 years.

Kinda crazy to think how you could pretty much do whatever online at schools, they really didn't have much of a solution for blocking stuff and probably didn't even really think why they would need to. My school eventually rolled out a simple DNS level block which even I knew several easy ways to bypass.
>>
>>83634301
me and my friends used to hack the school computers and put halo and age of empires, etc on that shit and have lan parties during lunch/skip class
>>
>>83634291

Same thing for me but a few years earlier. HS for me was 99-03. Some of us would go to rotten.com and show goatse or hai2u or incident with the fish or other shock images and laugh about it. Actually still friends to this day with people that have my same sense of humor
>>
>>83634301
My favourite way to bypass the block was at a time when SSL was still relatively new, all you had to do was change "http" to "https" and you're in. So fucking silly lmao.

For sure. It's weird for me to look back at the 2000s as the internet in it's infancy, because back then in real time I felt like the 2000s was the peak of the internet. I had no idea what it would grow to 20 years later. But in those days, most teachers didn't know how to operate a computer outside of going on AOL and checking email. The concept of a image-sharing forum and anime addicts wasn't even a thought in their minds. Yet here were thousands of us sharing stories, trying to out-alpha male eachother anonymously.

>simple DNS level block
Same. But 2010 when I was graduating they started locking down a lot of external websites that were educational. But there were plenty of proxies. Or just simply put the PC on DHCP to bypass any static limitations kek.

>>83634323
>still friends to this day with people that have my same sense of humor
Cherish that anon. I have old friends but at this point I would say the only thing we have in common are memories. I still have a friend or 2 who will laugh at a nigger joke. But no one really left with the edgy humor. Everyone got cleaned up in their 20s, and here I am, staying up late in my 30s while my family is asleep in the other room so I can shitpost.
>>
>>83634323
>shock images and laugh about it. Actually still friends to this day with people that have my same sense of humor
Speaking of which, I had a bit of a rude awakening semi-recently that's related to this.

There's some old meme song about Nevada-tan that got uploaded to YouTube like 18 years ago. The comments from back in the day were what you would expect, typical edgelord memes, no biggie. Then there was a sudden huge wave of "omg stop" and "i'm litraley shakeing" moralfaggotry. Turns out some zoomie did a YouTube documentary about it and whoever watched it came across the song and engaged weaponised virtue signalling mode.

Kinda funny how much cultural norms can shift over time. And kinda sad that the soul of 00s Web is pretty much dead.
>>
refreshing to talk to the few oldfags left in this ocean of piss btw bros

>>83634379
To expand on that thought a bit: it was like witnessing a large group of "future people" with no concept of lulz, by chance stumbling across a piece of Internet history, unable to make sense of why such a thing would even exist, all having an identical "shocked and appalled" reaction amongst each other, because that is what their "society" has taught them to be the virtuous thing to do.
>>

>had kids
Unfortunately cannot since my husband shoots blanks. He had a vasectomy after he had his daughter in his previous marriage. Oh well, I love the guy so that doesn't matter to me. I just wish he didn't snore. JFC, I'm getting tired of getting out of bed after about 2 hours and coming down to my cubby hole/home office and sleep on my lounger because he snores. Thank fucking God he's getting his cpap fitting on the 20th.

>>83634395
I miss the SweetEva threads. The lamp I think was scarred for life. And it was really mean of the internet to trip her, and the cops to cut the feed and INTERNET INTERNET INTERNET INTERNET INTERNET INTERNET. Mike trolling her via a rickroll on the radio was one epic moment. It was sad to find out she passed away. I think it was in 2016.

I also missed the DNS weekend of 2008. It was a fun time without all the cancer. The thing was, it just required knowing 4chan's IP address to get in. Yet, all the cancer, including the Chanology cancer, didn't know how to do that. I'm tech illiterate, yet I figured it out easily.

There's also duckroll threads. A major meme I miss but cannot do because of extensions.

I have. The one I have in our bedroom is:

https://us.loopearplugs.com/products/quiet?variant=46599252771049

It just cuts it down a little bit when the noise is near. Even then, it's uncomfortable esp when I'm laying on my side because the noise of something such as moving your head on the pillow is louder. His snoring is just that loud and annoying. I'm noise sensitive so stuff like that really annoys the living hell out of me. The only plus I've had since I got them was that I don't hear the neighbor's annoying ass dog barking all hours during the night.

Deeply unfortunate.
My wife uses these bigger ones (see picrel). We both started using them when we had a neighbor with an incredibly loud dog haha. But the I stopped using them when we moved out but she kept them as snoring protection lul

The ones you linked look very small. They may look cute, but they're probably not that effective. Or maybe I'm wrong.
You should at least try the picrel. If I have to wake her up I have to get physical or shout at 10cm from her ear. Otherwise she won't hear me.

I tried those types before, and I just didn't like them. I have another loop earplug (Engage 2) that I use when I'm out like when me and my husband are out on a date. It cuts down on the background noise while I'm still able to hear him just fine. It's why I like them. Also, these are something that's highly suggested to people like me. It'd be nice if I could wear them at work though, but cannot, lol.

Any old farts like me remember when music was sort of a luxury? You bought a $200 stereo to listen to music, or maybe one for your car. CDs were like $19 each (90s money, more like $30 today) and ten out of the twelve songs on them would kinda suck.

Music itself was like a way to bond with others. You'd make friends just because a guy liked the same band as you. People would meet and fall in love at concerts. Music was like this big part of our lives and personality.

Now everyone has every song ever written streaming into their earbuds any time they want it. Who still cares about music? It's just one big mush of sound playing in the background now. I'm already dead sick of my top 100 playlist on Spotify. I'll switch to 1960s Italian music just out of pure boredom
>>

You seem to be well off so just get custom silicone plugs made by a pro. I get sore ear canals from wearing foam plugs but the custom plugs fit like a glove without pressure points. Cheaper option is using this diy kit that molds inside the ears: https://earinc.com/product/self-fit-diy-custom-earplugs/
These kits are also nice to make custom earpieces for headphones the cheap way.

>Why are you sex-havers on my wizard board?

>For what reason would a 40 year old with kids post on this board in particular?
Just cuz somebody is 40 doesn't mean that they have a family and kid. You're either larping OR you're relatively young and still brainwashed by the outdated normie culture, that does not even reflect the real world, dating scene, marriage stats, birth rates, etc, of the 21st century.
You somehow automatically assumed that everybody is married with kids, but the majority aren't married.
>Hiroshimoot should just delete this place
this is also a weird one. How come newfags believe that r9k is all about turboincels?
Nah, faggots, just because the worst tourist women haters spammed the board and conquered it to an extent, doesn't mean that robot9000 was meant to be a blackpill incel place.
I do not object, but at the same time, this board wasn't created with blackpill and/or incels in mind.

I didn't have very many since I always listened to the radio anyway until downloading mp3s became the norm. I always liked Audiogalaxy but the RIAA screws everything up. Though, I know of the pain. >>83635041

>>
>>83634974
I think having every song on standby made it harder to appreciate sings that need to grow on you a bit but then become one of your favorites. Having music on records/tapes meant that skipping songs was annoying so one just let it run and often started to appreciate a song that isn't appealing immediately but is one if the songs one relistens decades later. Now, noons has the patience to suffer through a slow start and it's skip, skip, skip because tech allows it. The similarities to online dating and its consequences are obvious, aren't they?

this label is the problem. It is associated, without me judging, with mentally ill anons geniunely wishing harm on other people male and female alike. Especially female.
The counter-spam from trannies or an occassional femcel venting does not help the situation as both parties can just spew pointless hatred.
The issue is the hatred being pointless and non productive in any way. In a sense of monetary gain and building this world up to be better. Without any sex or relationships. Just making your own habitat and living conditions better for yourself only.

I will as I don't give a shit what you think or how you live. It is YOUR life. You're suppossed to be the main character. You chose to not pursue monetary gains, not my problem.
>foids are already overprivileged and artificially propped up. life on easy mode every step of the way.
completely irrelevant to your current situation as men are still needed and have careers. Do better for yourself, forget about others.
>they can bear being called fembots or just absorbed into the robot label
non-issue. you read wrong and worked yourself up based on false assumptions.
>tumblr is that way
nice try, newfag
>we don't need to hear what you think of as problematic
I don't think, I know. You hating on life is not the problem of other wizards, anon. It is possible to be a wizard and content with life. The fact you can't is a you problem.
You claim to be blackpilled and know everything, and be elevated above others, esp. older arch wizards, who are successful and can waste money. Those more intelligent and more successful men you despise even more than bitches for one reason only. They worked to be where they are and you choose not to.
Your life is the result of your actions. And yes there will be some setbacks brought on by other people, but if you keep moving forward, you too will become intelligent, self-sufficient, truly ascended wizard with savings.
TL;DR: It's very funny to me, that "robots" like you assume that other asocial wizards are normies, just because they're more advanced than you are.
And highlights the issue. Thank you.
>>
>>83635196
I feel for you on that one. That is some ingenuity there being able to make it work like that, lol. I know some people who still do fix things instead of throwing it away.

My first one was an cassette/radio/alarm clock combo my grandmother got me for my birthday from Family Dollar. I always had a hard time waking up and my mom said I was at the age that I should be able to get up by myself. The major unfortunate thing was that it didn't have a record option so I couldn't record anything off the radio.

>Pencil trick
It was always the most reliable method.

>diskman
Don't remind me. My first one my brother borrowed from me when he was going with his friend on a trip with their family. His friend was listening to a CD, was holding it, then dropped it when they were at a rest stop. That made me so mad. Thankfully it was cheap by then, but for a teenager, $40 was a lot at the time!

Having to listen to the entire tape to hear your favorite songs would lead you to create your own mixtape of all the best ones. It was like a personal top 20 that you could take with you and share with others.

I remember around '96 I found a stranger's lost mix tape, it was pretty good and had some stuff I hadn't really heard at that point (Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Wu Tang Clan). It became my secondary mix tape just on happenstance of finding it in the road.

Music was kind of a luxury in the 90s. Owning your own and not just listening to the radio wasn't very cheap. You savored any music you had. I remember getting The Mask soundtrack on clearance at a Wal Mart for $5 and just listening to it because it was there in my house. It's not that bad, well Cuban Pete is like far and away the best track, but there's some cool swing/big band music on it too.

Females who were on the Internet back in early 00s or earlier are tr00 bros. It wasn't like now where everyone was on the Internet by default, you basically had to be a certain type of person and go out of your way to even be on the Internet (that nerdy old thing), especially if you're female, since we all know there are (or at least were) no girls on the Internet. I wish I knew someone like that. Every female I know is basically a smartphone babby.

I wish these people would stop coming here. I have to assume this is some underage kid, and sure there were plenty of those on this site, but they were at least white and nerdy and kind of high IQ, not this bitter flavor of aggressive low IQ brown person conditioned by social media. Maybe it's also just some fellow oldfag "trolling" by spamming unc. Regardless I am just so tired of the sheer noise to signal ratio here and everywhere on the Internet now. Just nonstop Ebonics in all corners. This thread would be nothing but purely improved without this post and this poster. I really hope the US enters civil war; even if I die it would be good if there were some kind of reset that got all of these creatures off of the Internet. Worth it.

This exactly. The Internet has simply now replaced TV for normalfags. They use it the same way with about the same amount of thought. It's like they think the entire web is a Twitch stream and they're shouting into the chat. That's actually mainstream culture now. Kids will go around saying "chat is this real" and think it's funny and ironic. The way people are conditioned is insane to me. Old Internet was like a filter for people who were highly cognizant of the world around them, whereas the modern Internet is the exact opposite. There is no innovation here anymore, only drones receiving brain-software updates from the mothership.

I remember when it became possible/cheap to burn actual mp3 files to cheap CDs and you could get aftermarket head units which could read those mp3s and buffer the file instead of reading a raw stream off of the disc in real time, so they didn't have this problem. Felt like being Neo in The Matrix at the time, funny how totally irrelevant that whole concept has become simply because literally everything went digital and retard friendly

im around OPs age and have worked with children professionally, they're all like this. it is insufferable.
the ebonics, slang, it's just braindead.
to some extent, people act like feeling this about the next generations is just a normal part of aging, but there's something much worse about these newer generations. you see it play out in these posts on a smaller scale, but trust me, that is just a small ripple.

the skips in some CDs actually impact how I view the song now. It seems like there is something wrong if i don't hear the skip in the exact place in that song if I listen to it streaming now.

NTA but I remember being an insufferable kid myself and being surrounded by insufferable people too. I was also here on 4chan because this site is so damn old and I remember the quality of trolling/inane comments then vs now. These kids are literally programmed to be slaves. They worship nigger culture, that's all they know. They just consoom and accept whatever narrative TikTok feeds them. They're exactly like baby boomers with TV except it's in their hand 24/7. I feel like growing up with the early/old Internet taught me to be more of an independent thinker whereas today it's the opposite. All kids are little shitheads but modern culture and signaling and constant exposure to these various weird simulations of social phenomena which hijack normal human brain circuits have just fucked these kids up man. It's not just an old man complaining about the corrupted youth thing, they are every bit as bad as some boomer watching Fox News and thinking they're counter culture. I remember the actual counter culture and it's pretty much dead. Everything is globohomo feminist monoculture. Even third world countries have been fucked by this corporate slopternet because a semi functional smartphone is like $50 now which for even the poorest third worlders is like the equivalent of getting a budget Compaq in the late 90's, except instead of telnetting into BBSs and talking to upper class college kids, relatively affluent people who could both afford and figure out how to use the net, engineers and programmers, high IQ individuals they are being drip fed the latest algo-driven clickbait reality TV influencer advertiser poison 24/7. I used to block ads and I'd be almost offended or disgusted if I was exposed to them in passing; modern entertainment is literally hours long advertisements

The real problem here is that tech-competent people are all old and stopped posting on /g/ and now it's just kids who are into the "2000's tech aesthetic" and install windows XP for screenshots
