In the first place I greatly suspect the majority of psy(chologists|chiatrists) are deliberately fucking around with these labels to push more pills and get paid for more useless consultations, so they are complicit in this. There is actually a decent amount of "reputed" psychiatrists publishing in reputed journals calling out related sketchy behavior by their peers and by the DSM body for example.
