>Never go to social events because of anomalously severe peanut allergies
>Decide to stop being a shut in and go to a party today
>There's a table full of food, figure as long as I don't eat anything I should be fine
>Some jackass comes up right next to me with a peanut butter sandwich
>Inhale a huge whiff of peanut butter
>Feel throat swelling
It's over.
>>

Just go out with a big sandwich board sign that says "I HAVE A PEANUT ALLERGY. I WILL DIE IF I EVEN SMELL PEANUTS. THIS IS NOT A JOKE, PLEASE DO NOT KILL ME WITH YOUR CARELESSNESS."

it will be a great conversation starter
>>
>>83674753
Well if you survive it'll be a nice reminder not to do shit like this.
Staying inside and browsing 4chan is more fun than hanging out with normiecattle anyway.
>>
>"What's Bofa?"
>*fucking dies*
>>
>>83674783
Very bad idea. Some asshole will think it funny to chase you around with peanut butter. The vast majority of people do not take allergies or phobias seriously. I tell people I can't eat X because of a milk allergy, they get offended and accuse me of being difficult "one won't hurt" etc. I tell people I have claustrophobia and can't use lifts they just laugh at me. So I stopped telling people these things.
>>
>>83674753
Why the fuck did you go to a party that could kill you?
>>
>>83674824
Have you tried not being a timid bitch?
>>
I get having a food allergy, but how the fuck does it get bad enough that tiny ass smell particles are enough to harm you? That's the kinda shit eugenists had a point on.
>>
>>83674825
I've been on a quest to get a girlfriend for the past year or so. Online dating led to nothing but dead ends so I decided to try IRL. I went to this party hoping to meet a girl. But thanks to the peanut butter I had to book it out of there before I could even talk to one.
My airway feels a lot more open now so I don't think I'll have to go to the hospital. I did an emergency inhaler.
>>
>>83674832
I don't know. I wish it wasn't this way.
It's one of those weird things where strangers understand but my family doesn't. My parents think I'm crazy. My sister thinks I'm an embarrassment. But when I explain it to strangers or coworkers they're mostly like "yeah okay I get that." Though maybe they're just being polite and they actually think I'm crazy too.
>>
>>83674927
It's not that I think you're crazy, it's a thing that does happen, but it is insane. It's like God just hates you or some shit.
>>
>>83674927
It could also be because strangers don't see the precautions I take.
>I don't eat at unfamiliar restaurants.
>I generally avoid physical contact
>I wash my hands so much I make Howie Mandel look filthy
>I hold my breath when nuts are nearby
But then again, people do see that I carry around an Epi-Pen everywhere I go, and nobody has a problem with that once I explain it to them.
I hope I didn't seem too rude sneaking out of the party earlier.
And the thing is, my parents always say that my habits are getting in the way of my life and that I should see a therapist because they think I have OCD. But I experience literally zero problems living the way I do except when they act all judgy about it.
>>
>>83674989
In a vacuum those would definitely be considered obsessive-compulsive habits. But given your condition they seem reasonable.
Who gives a shit what your parents think anyway? You're an adult. They can't force you to get treatment if you don't think you need it
>>
>>83674989
Also my dad thinks it's germophobia, no matter how many times I try to explain to him that it's not
>>
That's what you get for trying to become a normie.
Being a shut-in rocks. You never have to deal with anyone's bullshit and you can do whatever you want all day.

Why would you inhale a huge whiff of it if you know it's fucking peanut butter, you absolute moron
>>
>>83675731
I didn't mean to. The guy just sat down next to me.
>>
>>83675061
Is he a dumbass who doesn't believe allergies are a thing?
>>
i would secretly give OP peanut butter laced crack
>>
>>83674989
why would your parents think like that when they literally raised you fully aware of your allergy?
>>
>>83675783
No he knows it's a thing. He just thinks the reason I wash my hands is because of germs.
>>
>>83675801
Because they only understand it from the perspective of an outsider. They don't know, and never can know, what it's actually like.
>>
Hilarious story and absolutely happened
>>
>>83675454
This. Normies think their lives are so happy but sometimes it's like they cease to exist when not in public.
>>
>>83676315
Normies aren't happy. Their neverending slop stream just distracts them from how miserable they are.
>>
>>83674989
Doesn't seem like OCD. OCD habits are usually things that the patient knows are irrational but they have to do anyway. Yours are rooted in objective medical risk. Tell your parents to eat shit.
>>
>>83674832
>That's the kinda shit eugenists had a point on.
There is a sign at my local gym saying "don't bring any food that contains pranuts im case someone here has a pranut allergy." Your personal disability should be your problem, not everyone else's. Expecting everyone to bend over backwards to accommodate a tiny minority is a collective mental illness.
>>
>>83674753
If your allergy is this extreme, can't you carry an inhaler around with you or something? You should be prepared for situations like this.
>>
>>83674753
sorry about your lethal nut allergy, nuts are delicious
>>
Sounds lowkey psychosomatic. I've had my throat swell up from anxiety before
>>
>>83677640
How about deez nuts?
>>
>>83674753
don't worry OP, I'll drive you home. just hang your head perilously far out the window if you can't breathe.
>>
>>83677615
I'm sure you'll think the same way if you're disabled one day.
>>
>>83677838
I will never demand that all of society bend to my particular disability. It's absurd and counter to the actual functioning of society. The minority is not entitled to special treatment from the majority.

If you have a debilitating allergy like OP does, it's your job to navigate that. It's not everyone else's job to check in with every single person they meer to check if they have peanut, onions, or milk allergies. Do you expect every baker to ask every single customer if they have celiac before they purchase a loaf of bread? Take your worldview to its logical conclusion and you will realize how stupid it is.
>>
>>83677621
I carry an Epi-Pen
>>
>>83678441
Yeah, I don't generally expect random strangers to make accommodations, which is why I'd rather stay in than go out
>>
>>83674989
Your habits are learned and not ocd. The reason your parents don't take you seriously is because they're fed up hearing/seeing it so they start to think you're faking some of it to get attention.
I don't know how to describe this better, but I have the same thoughts when my mom complains about her backpain. I have heard about it for over a decade now and I'm desensitized, which would make it seem like I'm psychotic to an outsider.
>>
>>83674753
I would have said to him "Get the fuck away from me I am deathly allergic to peanuts"
What did you say after he sat next to you?
>>
>>83674824
Why are you comparing your larping with a serious condition though. Closed spaces don't make your throat swell they just make you behave like a retard, not unlike open spaces.
>>
>>83680481
I didn't say anything. I just got up and left.
