I was applying to minwage jobs. I don't have proper education and I am 33 so I was a bit anxious but I need money so I just applied to restaurants and factories. Some didn't even bother to respond, which really made it take longer than it should. Would've saved me a lot of time if they just told me, "we got your application but it's no match".
In the end I found a small company that assembles circuitboards, I'm starting soon as the manager got really excited when I just showed some interest and told him about soldering things as a hobby.

It's nothing special really, hopefully I can do it without being completely depressed. The pay will be a lot better despite it being minwage. The money is much needed, I need to get my eyes checked and get some fresh lenses for my glasses, my car needs some parts too and maybe I'll sign up for a language course so I can meet some people and learn a new language.

what happens is, you submit a resume online, the hr people are supposed to read and process it and send approved ones to the local managers who reach out to you.

but they just dont fucking do it.

try burlington coat factory -- its kind of hard work for retail, but they use an automatic system that schedules interviews without needing to wait for hr approval. if you can work weekends and morning and evenings it will approve you for an interview basically guaranteed.

but even then, when i got a job there, even after the interview where the manager said i was hired and should get forms from corporate next day, i didnt get the forms for a week -- not until i went back in physically to ask the manager if i was really hired or what was up. he just rolled his eyes and was like "fucking corporate." then this happened a second time with setting up my account in the corporate system. the manager there was desperate for people and had to bitch out hr into doing their jobs multiple times for every person he wanted to onboard.

so thats basically the deal. talk to the store manager if its at all possible -- usually if you ask an older employee theyll be happy to call him or her around. they DO want to hire, you just have to help the local manager make corporate do their fucking job.
