washing, skincare, hair, shaving properly, etc. ?

Mine didn't, at all, and I still feel like I'm learning things. I hate it and I'm mad at them that I didn't start wearing moisturizer until I was 19 I could've had perfect skin
>>
>>83678001
my parents taught me nothing and either did things for me or let them go undone. they also made me do a shitton of chores with no re-ward, which only made me realize hard work is valueless. then they got divorced and started giving me pretty much everything i could ask for
>>
nope. for a lot of shower stuff, it was done for me. theyd complain i didnt wash my hair or dry myself properly, so instead of being taught, they did it for me. when i started puberty around 9 i was given a hotel bath towel robe so i could sit and dry. i still, at 20, dont dry myself, i just sit wrapped in 3 towels. learnt how to take care of my hair tho, kind of
>>
if your paents made you do chores and you had no allowance or structure, you most likely were an accidental fuck up birth.
The only kids who didn't get allowances were kids whos parents actively resented their existence.
>>
>>83678048
my dad fucking resented the shit out of me and would compare me to every more successful kid, why would he teach me values or anything? smoke em up tony
>>
>>83678001
>muh moisturizer

Faggot. Recipe for perfect skin is diet and genes, everything else is temporary suppressant.
>>
>>83678001
no and my parents enabled really bad habits into me when i was young, letting me eat like shit, thats why i have a fatty liver at 19 when im skinny and have never drank or smoked

My mom showed me how to to do my laundry, wash myself, and I learned the basics of how to cook from watching her.
My father has truly taught me nothing in life, even when he tried to teach me he only ended up teaching my how to not do things since he just wings everything in poor fashion.
>>
My mom said me and my two siblings were accidents. They didn't teach me anything, but I learned from the shitty experience and grew into a mentally ill adult.
>>
>>83678001
>I didn't start wearing moisturizer until I was 19
I didn't start brushing my teeth until I was 19 since my parents never showed me how. I was also a dumb teen though. I used to scrap plaque off my teeth with my fingernail and think "wtf is this shit?" then just go on about my day. It's fucking amazing my teeth aren't in terrible shape, I mean they're not great up you can't tell they're kinda fucked up unless I smile and you study them closely. My parents are former crackheads with no teeth its to be expected I guess.
>>
>>83678001
>washing
Yeah
>skincare
Not really, although I think my mum bought me some acne cream.
>hair
When I was a little kid they showed me how to shampoo my hair and how to brush/comb my hair
>shaving properly
I worked it out myself.
>>
My parents taught me nothing. Zero life skills. I often wonder what my life would have looked like if had grown up with supportive parents.
>>
I stopped asking my mom for help with stuff in elementary because every time I would ask for help she would say I dont know or she would be so fucking drunk that she'd be bouncing off the floor.
Good times.
>>
>>83678001
My parents just forced me to work for free, rest of family too. Always treated me like shit. Nowadays they seem surprised I avoid them.
>>

most people don't naturally have a "put 2 and 2 together" mind. They just remain ignorant until something forces them to solve a problem.

NTA but would rather just have acne ATP.
>>
>>83678757
okay but what if i dont have pimples, what if i have rosacea and closed comodones
>>
>>83678781
>what if
see a dermatologist, only acne is simple to solve with lifestyle changes like who knows whats really causing your rosacea, at least acne/pimples is common enough that it has common solutions, everything else only a doctor in person can do the tests to figure it out
>>
>>83678001
>Did your parents teach you how to take care of yourself?
For the most part.
Some things they expected me to just know (like how to properly sweep the floor or wash dishes then got mad at me for not just coming out the womb instinctually knowing such things that they never showed me at that point), other things they expected me to figure out (taxes and other boring adult shit that was annoying but I did indeed figure it out without needing to be taught it).
But they taught me all the basic hygiene stuff.
I still have fond memories of when my father taught me how to shave and gave me my first electric trimmer. Real classic father son moment.

That said they weren't strict about picking up after myself and keeping a tidy living space, so to this day I still have a lot of issues with keeping my spaces clean.
My mom was at several points in her life basically a hoarder and everyone in the family had/has major clutter blindness as a result.

Like I don't mean for every space that I have control over to become a cluttered stuffed to bursting rat's nest. It just sort of sneaks up on me somehow and becomes a herculean task to clean once it becomes that way.
Happens to all my siblings too.
>>
>>83678001
no my parents are both probably autistic and weren't really prepared to take care of a child
>>
>>83678001
No but I figured out the basics on my own
>>
Not really, it was strangers online that told me how to do things and have better habits.
The worse thing is that my father complains even though he never used his time to teach me, the fat fuck only wanted to drink beer, simp for boomer politicians and watch TV.
>>
>>83678001
no but they blame themselves for me being a retard which makes me feel sort of guilty
>>
>>83678001
>I hate it and I'm mad at them that I didn't start wearing moisturizer until I was 19 I could've had perfect skin
I started smoking cigarettes at age 12 or 13. I recently quit over 4 months ago at age 25. I'm pretty sure I have the skin of like a 33 year old from all the smoking, bad diet and other factors. Oh well. I'd say my parents did a decent job of raising me, although I'm definitely a loser.
>>
>>83678001
Mine didn't teach me a single thing at all, no exaggeration. Everything I know I learned by myself or in school.
My mom is extremely autistic and didn't even realize, somehow, that she had to teach me stuff. My dad just didn't care.
I remember getting my period when I was 11 and thinking I was dying 'cause I had never heard of period pain before.
Almost burned my house down cause of grease fire.
My classmate taught me how to tie my shoelaces at age like... nine.
And many other memories.
I was a naive and dumb kind, though.
>>
No. I was raised by my worthless single mother or my disgusting filthy grandmother that has never bathed more frequently than a handful of times a year. Even my mother only bathed weekly (I later learned this isn't even uncommon for foids) so it was a mostly weekly thing for me as well and I had no idea I stank badly until well into my 20s.

I had severe acne so skincare for me was washing my face with hand soap and dwelling on how ugly I looked in the mirror. Rather than take me to a dermatologist my mother would just make fun of me for it. Fucked me up for a long time.
I eventually learned everything on my own via the internet in my mid 20s when I fell for the looksmaxxing meme.

Didn't teach me anything

>I learned how to study by myself when I started college and decided I didn't want to be a loser like them
>Found work by myself
>Learned about work ethic and dealing with people at work through my own bad experiences
>Learned to socialize and how to handle people on my own
>Learned to cook and about proper nutrition on my own
>Learned about dental hygiene on my own the hard way, after treating a bunch of cavities that I payed out of my own pocket
>Learned about relationships and about how to handle women on my own
>Learned about exercise and grew muscle and cardiovascular health on my own

If I had a kid today I would feel the need to teach them so many things about life, I just don't get how some people can reproduce then don't involve themselves at all in the lives of their children, as if they were some appliance. Just popping out a kid, sending him/her to school and providing food is not enough. I'd teach my children how to navigate through life and help them find their own road to success and happiness

A lot of people are dumbasses and shouldn't reproduce, it's crazy
>>
>>83678001

Just drink more water and stop eating junk.
That should clear up your skin
>>
>>83678001
The only thing my dad really taught me was how to be a womanizer because all he'd ever do is bring random bar women home. Funny enough i probably learned more from some of this random women in passing about cooking
>>
>>83678001
No one told me you have to roll your foreskin back to pee otherwise it splashes all over, so you tell me. The only reason I found out is because my aunt got mad I keep pissing on the floor so made me pee while she watched and noticed that I didn't.
>>
>>83678757
>>don't drink caffeine, spicy foods, deep fried stuff, sugary foods
technically good advice but do you know how hard it is to actually avoid this shit? The Keto diet is incredibly hard to do in our modern life, and expensive. Fucking EVERYTHING has sugar, or processed salt in it nowadays so unless you eat nothing but home cooked meals of Steamed meat and vegetables all day (even snacks are excluded) this is impossible.

If nothing else the diet will drive you, and everyone leaving with you, completely mad. Turns out, most households eat the same dinner. That means if the family is having pizza, you're having pizza. Nobody wants to prepare a seperate meal just for you.

I've all but accepted diabetes will be how I die. It is what it is. What do you want me to do about it? Literally anything besides plain water has sugar in it
>>
>>83679819
Did you expect children to eventually figure out how skincare works? and how often it should be done? Or even that it should be done? Children will naturally figure out a lot of things if left alone, like how to feed themselves or have sex, but this aint one of them
>>
>>83680632
You replied to the wrong comment.
>>
Interesting topic for myself.
I have amnesia so idk what precisely I was taught. So it may seem that I just know how to do things; but then there are other things I for sure know I was never taught, yet know how to do anyway.
Maybe reincarnation or something idk. That said I still can't braid hair so it's not like I know everything.

>>83678101
If you live in a cold area and are going outside with much wind, medicinal grease is good for skin.

>>83678020
Hard work isn't useless; but it requires the ability to formulate your own lessons. And at a certain point the line between work and hobby / pleasure blurs. Gardening can be either work or pleasure, etc. Mopping is almost surely work, but if you pay attention to body's movements you can isolate what's weak and needs tending to. It's very much a mindset thing.

>>83678033
Grab (single) towel, rub body with towel until no longer wet, hang towel to dry, wash towel either every week w/ laundry load or when it starts to smell. I don't want to be mean but isn't this one fairly straight forward?

>>83678216
Teeth health is almost entirely diet and to a lesser extent genetics / immune system which isn't entirely genetics but still formulated early in life.
>>
>>83678322
I wonder how one would attempt to engineer this mindset. Part of me thinks it's genetic or perhaps IQ but there are a wealth of people here whose stories suggest otherwise. Is it some childhood trauma that shocks the hylic soul awake?
Should we purposefully set out to traumatize everyone growing up to alight their minds?
>>
>>83680226
This is the conclusion I've reached, but then my diet is 99% stuff I cook at home and I eat extremely simple things (eggs, milk, rice, butter, olive oil, salt, beans, bread without seed oils, tuna fish, and that's about it)

Can someone give a tl:dr; on skincare?
I've heard people say lotion at night but I don't like sleeping with stuff on face, feels yucky.
>>
>>83680614
Anon, just so you know, when people say "has sugar in it", they almost always mean "added sugar".
They're not saying to avoid milk because it has natural sugars, they're saying to avoid cereal that has 15% of your RDA of sugar, not to avoid cereal that has no added sugar or maybe 1-2g like fiber cereal.
Avoid soda, etc. Things like that.
I can help you out more if you want with more explicit directions on things to avoid and what to look for as this was something I was quite autistic on in the past.
But yes you need to avoid a lot of prepackaged foods and eating out. Convenience is often at the cost of health. It's not too bad though; if you need to eat out at lunch for instance just instead bring your own you cooked at home. Lots of stuff lasts a whole day outside even without refrigeration like sandwiches and stuff.

The scary thing is it is almost exclusively people like this who have kids and exclusively people like you who don't have kids because you understand the responsibility it entails.
But 99% of the time it's moms getting divorced cause Booo- hooo I'm not happy, then take the kids and use them as a weapon against the father and focus on themselves and the state and media pushing that the retarded whores doing this are heros no matter how much they beat their kids and refuse to raise them
>>
>>83681347
dude it's just 2-3L of water a day(milk/tea is fine too, don't overdo things, water is best, with milk at most 1L/day for skin IMO)
Replace your pillowcase every week, rest of sheets can be 1 week to 3 weeks, they matter a bit less since your face isn't on them.
And just get something to clean your face with in the morning/evening
>>
>>83681545
Then the people who buy those expensive lotions and whatnot are just money wasting faggots?
>>
>>83681664
Sometimes, sometimes not.
you can get like 70-85% of the result for a quarter of the price, do you want to pay 2x, 4x, 10x for 10% better results?
Some brands are just expensive junk regardless.
If you don't have lots of money it's better to spend on better food than on slightly better soaps/creams for the face.
>>
>>83681260
>Teeth health is almost entirely diet and to a lesser extent genetics / immune system which isn't entirely genetics but still formulated early in life.
Don't brush your teeth for the next 5 years and let me know how it goes. If you have a normal diet you'll have cavities. If you only eat meat. No bread, no milk, no sugars then maybe you'll be fine, but no one eats like that
>>
>>83681284
rather, it's the buildup of childhood trauma that causes this behavior
their parents never had a put 2 and 2 together mindset, they never learned to think about other people's feelings, and they never learned to think critically about things, so they remain ignorant forever
>>
>>83681822
I've been doing that for the past few years already bro. Do I need to teach you how everyone's saliva is different due to said genetic factors and how some people's saliva is not only useless but actually bad for them?

You already agree with me that diet is important for cavities you just don't know the right data points. I'm saying a "normal" diet is fine for teeth, you're throwing your hands in the air because you seemingly (and I could be wrong) are unwilling to regulate your diet away from the sugary treats thinking it's all but useless. At least if you're the diabetes anon, this post is pretty sparse and I'm making an assumption.
>>
>>83682070
Ah, no, I'm saying I wonder how to teach people the 2+2 mindset.
>>
>>83682137
It's not just sugar. If you eat bread you'll get cavities. It just takes longer. Anyways just brush your teeth with water if you have something against toothpaste. It;s better than nothing
