You misunderstand morality entirely. I do not do good at my expense. My doing good is because otherwise, the expense is such that I can not tolerate otherwise. If I am on my way home and I see [bad thing], not intervening will cost me the entire night's sleep, not simply a few hours. My morals are not something I impose on the environment but something that I impose upon myself. This specific moment in the now is the most important because it is all that exists. The past is gone and the future is never arrived.
