Why do Americans, particularly the more progressives types, love thugs and gangsters until it is white guys joining the biggest baddest gang in the land and thugmaxxing? It isn't about " muh bootlicking" either. There is a chain of command even for street gangs.

It reminds them no group of men are stronger on this Earth. If a group of white boys decide you are done, you are done. The thugs running around on the streets acting tough, yeah, they are not shit.
