Would you rather suffer agony or severe depression?
>>83683480i assume you mean physical agony compared to mental agony? to be honest im not sure, both stop you from living a good life
>>83683480I'd suffer in agony. if I ever get severely depressed again I would kill myself. physical pain even distracts me from the mental one.
>>83683480i already have severe depression and i think its preferable to physical agony. but i already mentally killed myself and im just seeing how life turns out after accepting the absurdity of it all. this is a very niche mentality so its ok if you dont understand
depression, easily.depression blunts your emotions and makes you feel less in the first place. you're probably better off being depressed and in pain than in pain and not depressed cause your brain's built for that mode of being miserable and feels less. Pain seems worse, becasue you'd be capable of having feelings and dreams but not be able to live them out. A will trapped in a body seems much worse than a dejected abandonment of value.
>>83683480Your brain eventually numbs to the physical pain if agony is constantDepression puts a damper on everything and puts your actions and brain in slime Agony, easily
>>83683526>depression blunts your emotions and makes you feel less in the first place.depression feels awful, I think it makes you feel more not less.
>>83683553not the case with severe depression.check out the behavioral shutdown model or beck's model.it's called depression for a reason. it's the opposite of agitation
>>83683480that girl is 14 there
>>83683480god what i would give to have a girlfriend who looks like that
>>83683480Depression, I can and have lived with depression. I think some people ITT dont really understand how overriding physical pain can be.
>>83683610Really intense physical pain crowds out the mind to the extent that all there is, is the pain.
>>83683573What you're describing is anhedonia, a symptom of depression. That isnt to say it isnt caused by depression. A severe depressive episode is anything but a void of emotions, it's too much negative emotions, about every facet of your life.I was diagnosed with a severe depressive episode years ago and it was without a doubt the worst, most agonizing year I've ever experienced bar none. What you describe, the flattness or absence of any strong emotions or at times no emotions at all, just cant muster a single fuck about anything, can barely bother to go to the toilet, that came after the episdoe and it stuck around for a year or two. Which is fairly typical with severe depressive episodes, especially unmedicated. Which is why I have my doubts about SSRI's flattening peoples emotions, I rawdogged my way through a severe episode without SSRI's and I still experienced profound anhedonia and emotional numbing. I think the brain just shuts down to protect itself from all the stress, cortisol and adrenaline that's released continuouslyfor months and months during a depressive episode.
>>83683682we've all been diagnosed with severe depression it's called sanity
>>83683573There might be a difference if it's a medical depression or a diseased brain rather than the evo psych of loserdom and learned helplessness.>>83683610It's a bit of a trick question because if you have no dopamine you will literally starve to death, your body is like a ruby goldberg machine so both depression and agony are both very overriding. Depression is DEEP. Einstein believes that there is no true free will and I agree. It's very similar to the question, do you prefer being hot or cold? but then you have to question how hot and how cold? Both would kill you instantly at their extremes.
>>83683726>There might be a difference if it's a medical depression or a diseased brain rather than the evo psych of loserdom and learned helplessness.i mean no what i'm saying is true on a biological level brain activity is lower in depression than normal brains and you can see it under a scan.
My depression and agony used to go hand in hand. Then they fucked. And I'm there now. Here?
>>83683480I know how to solve both, and solving depression is much easier than solving physical pain
Severe depression. I've experienced both. Depression hands down.
>>83683480mental agony over physical, i've suffered mental agony for a while but having chronic pain seems so much worse
