For a while I was what you'd probably call far right. Third position, blood and soil, community focus, etc. I had many friends who were out and out socialists or tankies. One friend I made in far right circles literally attended fireside chats with a far right thoughtleader and associated with Identity Europa.A large part of what motivates the far right is worry over a big picture that transcends mere economic or social policy. It's about baseline survival and security, which in an individual are two needs which come before you bother with most other needs. People feel abandoned by their state, alienated from their rootless and cosmopolitan families, without purpose or meaning outside of religion. It really can't be helped; at this time in world history every nation is part of some big league of nations, the EU, UN, et cetera, and things happening in Somalia wind up affecting Americans now. We depend on international relations so much that we can't really unopen this pandora's box of migratory change. All most rightists could feasibly expect to do is survive to the other side, assuming collapse is inevitable. Maybe it's not inevitable. I hold no dog in this race anymore. I've worn myself out on trying to affect change or spread awareness because the truth is I don't know what's best or trust anyone to know what's best anymore. I just want to get fat with my gay ass boyfriend and enjoy art in peace before the apartment pods come for us. Bleak but...nothing new to me.
