I was playing cyberpunk 2077 and can't stop ignoring pothole that a futuristic cyberpunk city isn't able to use surveillance technology to find someone going around shooting up people in city. Am I autistic for being bothered by this?
>>83685408>bothered>>83685408>ignoring
>>83685408Cyberpunk is basically a utopian daydream where the State stops protecting the Corporations thus enabling ordinary people to fight the Corporations. IRL the State and the Corporations run hand in hand, and if you fight the Corporations the State protects them and destroys you.
>>83685424Imagine going into Apple hq causing shooting to break out and proceed to stay within 5 mile radius of it while committing crimes.
isnt this like the entire thematic purpose of watch dogs and watch dogs 2, cybersec surveillance hacking blah blahidk i bought both games and somehow literally never even fucking unwrapped them. no mans sky and cyberpunk are also unwrapped
>>83685408The Net is broken. Surveillance like what currently exists in the real world isn't possible. It would require people to go around from building to building collecting video recordings.
>>83685408>that a futuristic cyberpunk city isn't able to use surveillance technology to find someone going around shooting up people in city.Yeah surveillance basically killed romantic hooliganism.Cyberpunk, Masquerade settings they all fall apart in the presence of surveillance cameras on every corner.
>>83685442lol yeah I have cyberpunk and haven't played itguess I should.
>>83685521>It would require people to go around from building to building collecting video recordings. That's not super difficult you know.
>>83685424Cyberpunk is 80-90s Hong Kong cosplay. Weak state and therefore much crime going.
>>83685805basically this.corpos have an interest in keeping night city off the books to cover for their own operations. NCPD is basically entirely hollowed out and the people that actually still choose to try to help as police are like supercop heroes. Emergency response around the city only really exists for MaxTac and Trauma Team.
>>83685776There was one called Beneath A Steel Sky where the hooliganism worked with surveillance, because the Brain-Computer Interface running the city wanted a blood relative replacement, so it was trying to lure in the protagonist as his father was dying of old age.
>>83685408it's fucking NIGHT CITY. There's always crime going on. The intro itself shows a random armed carjacking. And who's to say V is shooting up everything? Maybe canon V is a stealth build, you don't know. This game has a lot of flaws, the main being "punk" means aesthetic, not atttitude in this case, but people being unable to find one criminal in a city full of criminals is not one of them. For most of the story they don't even know who you are. You're just someone who stole their fancy chip
that game sucks most of the time you spend in meetings like some wageslave at work
>>83686890>>83686755What I find funnier is how night city has lot of abandoned buildings and decrepit streets but somehow roads look brand new. Just not realistic for a corporate controlled city considering having crime sprees would be bad for business
>>83685408Other anons have mentioned it but the corpos are more powerful than the local government (autonomous city state, independent from the NUSA) They are basically still recovering from a giant war and the societal upheaval that always comes after that is what you see. The people up top dont simply care, a big part of the lore is that emergency services are only available to the Uber rich. Those corpos also depend on mercenaries to fight eachother, you are literally used that way throughout the game. So basically it's because it's one corrupt crimehole where noone really cares about anything except money. And in games it's always thickened a bit, like how gta is supposed to take place in the actual US.
>>83687168Roads actually look like shit when you go outside the areas where gangs are willing to work with local government.
