People with minor issues really like to project/deflect when it comes to people with severe issues. What happened to not judging someone before you walk a mile in their shoes? The phrase should be change today to in their head, because most measure distance in word than daylight.

You can never truly 'reject' your shadow-self. It will always be there, lurking in the...well, shadows, waiting for you to crashout when you least expect it. You can try to ignore it, try to suppress it (usually with alcohol and such), but it will eventually well up tear you down from the inside. My mom's like that; Cold Mother Syndrome, and I've realized that all of her toxic 'positivity' and dismissal of any criticism of life or herself is a direct attempt of hers to ignore unresolved childhood, teen, and adult trauma.
