Bacon bacon buppy time? Bacon bacon buppy time. It's all coming up Seaside now he got a brand new car and he moved into local fireman station. He looted local police station and is still ferrying guns from there to where he lives now; he's got a lot of work to do to shore it all up and make it zombie proof. He desperately trying to not stay lonely bored and depressed but there's nobody else out there. He get solace in watching tapes on the telly.

Garn get the shopping in. He try keep it domestic, he try enjoy a normal life even though every one is a crack head now.
His final objective is to get on the boat at Swanage and sail to Cornwall. He has a dream to live in Cornwall and this is his chance. It's going to be a long road to get there and Seaside going to need every advantage he can get; he stockpile foodstuffs, medical supplies and weapons. He got to repair his car, he got to maintain his new home.

I just don't want to rely on the isp dns (pretty sure the major providers are secretly logging the queries). You need to be relying on a trusted third party dns using dns over https or dns over tls. Using a vpn can still leak dns queries...especially with ipv6. Lookup dns leak and test it. Just using a third party without any security is not good enough...they can still see the dns queries.

Many web browsers will prefetch dns, meaning you don't actually have to visit the site for it to submit a dns query (this is to speed things up in case you do click a link on a site). You can also block ads at dns level, which is quite handy.
>>
>>83712613
weirdly surprised this is news to people. if you've ever ran a web server, you get access to logs of every request, that's just how they work.

it's only relatively recently HTTPS everywhere came in for real, most of the web was plaintext, you didn't even know if your password was hashed or just sent along the tubes. every game server had your IP address, of course your ISP knows your DNS requests ('use Google's DNS servers' was once considered good advice LMAO).

all a step in the right direction. but damn, a generation has started to take too much EXTRA security for granted. it's a bonus, not the default.
>>
Stop using your shit Windows 11 ai spyware.

You are describing the situation 15+ years ago. That's not relatively recent.
>>
>>83712688
What is it detached from though
>>
>>83712650
http is just much better performance wise but you used to have isps injecting their ads into sites like google back in the day.

>>
>>83712719
Only way to do that would be to have software on every device. I suppose technically all Intel CPUs have a rootkit on them, meaning privileged access too all data in memory, but as far I know it doesn't actually send stuff to the NSA or anyone else. That would be difficult to do and the amount of useless junk data would be impossible to comb through.
>>
>tfw in the future your computer will be in the cloud, scanned by AI and you'll need to pay a monthly subscription fee to connect to it through a very basic box. Why do you think they are buying up all the RAM and storage? It's a big plan to shift every one away from hardware and local storage.
>>
Mongboy on a mega melty trying to bury posts like last night and ITS LUSH x
>>
>>83712739
Its not just that. Most devices and services are not end-to-end encrypted by default. Data is encrypted in transit but decrypted on the server and NSA can access it at the server.
>>
>>83712681
i remember some small-ish forum drama where the software DID 'lock' mods/admins out.
some guy become a mod. he wanted to snoop on a user. so he changed the user's email address to his own, requested the password, then changed it back. it just emailed the password across as plaintext. he ended up going through the guy's other accounts and emails.

>>83712699
true yeah, i guess i mean in the grander scale of the web. but like, if you used Google's DNS servers for example, of course they know every request you ever made.

time was you'd play online games and they'd see your IP address (oh no). Steam IDs on games, vHosts in IRC...all obfuscations really, but it's like how a Tor exit node can see what page you're on.

my only legit fear is some retrospective forensic bollocks. like how DNA caught serial killers decades later, what if they find out we torrented animes???
>>
>>83712752
How? Like I say, that would only happen if there was software on the server to intercept it. As someone who works in the industry, all the webserver stack we use is open source, and there are no such backdoors.
>>
>>83712736
He's been rumbled pal
>>
>>83712760
Yeah, you could theoretically be identified by IP address, which anyone connecting to you on a torrent will know, and your ISP will be able to say who that IP address was allocated to at a particular time.

This is how people get sent those letters telling you to stop being a pirate. For some (newer) shows and movies where they're still putting effort into protecting it, they look at who is torrenting and then send cease and desists to the ISPs, who then send them to the customers.

For most apps and devices that are not end-to-end encrypted your data is usually encrypted in HTTPS which protects it from anyone intercepting it on the network. But once the data reaches the server, it is decrypted so the service can process, store, or forward it. At this point, the server can see the plaintext and thats where NSA etc can access if they tap the server illegally or get court order legally or if the server is compromised

It's weird how females don't care about all this security and privacy online beyond obviously not revealing anything too personal. They are quite happy to have everything tracked and support a big digital ID. Why are women this way?

>there are no such backdoors.

a (reliable) FBI guy claimed there was that backdoor in OpenBSD, and it still hasn't been found.

2complex4me, but did you ever read that essay by the C guy (Kernighan or the other one) where he explained compiling a malicious compiler with itself, to obfuscate its own sinister instructions? spooky.

This is just the past few hours of using a few sites, time servers, updating etc. You have to be mental to let the isp have all this juicy dns info.

If we talking about "legally" then its not about hidden backdoors in open source software. Its about finding and exploiting gaps in where encryption does not apply.
legal orders, server compromisation, or intercepting it before it reaches the server.

yeah was thinking torrents as a current example, you can just see every peer. it even does that geolocation thing for the sake of showing you flags. if you were bored you could piece together who a user is and what they're into.

and that's a situation where you'd definitely want to be a bit hidden. turns out nobody, realistically, gives a shit. the RIAA made a few high-profile examples of people in the 2000s to spook people, that's it.

TalkTalk backed that whole 'downloading is not a crime' campaign because they wanted people to sign up and use their service, presumably.

the technology is fine. the problem is actual laws/censorship, and server-side bullshit like sneaky ads and too much JavaScript wank.

YOUR 7 proxies might get YOU onto porn. but wider society is being blocked from vital pornographic expression (Article 10 of the Human Rights Act).

I've been torrenting for twenty years now and I only ever got one letter and that was when one of my uni housemates had been pirating full length porn. Had the title and everything, we needed to have an awkward conversation in the house where no accusations were made but everyone was asked not to do it. We all knew who it was, Josh you horny little freak.

i've heard here and there about people getting letters. tbqh i've done fuck-all with VPNs or anything, always wondered if i'd ever get a letter.
>reee you downloaded Star.Wars.Attack.of.the.Clones.1080p.WEB-DL.mkv, and Disney have been on our tail about that one!

is it just random spot checks on the actual torrent traffic, or something? i simply toggled that 'Encrypted: Forced' option when that came in on all the clients. because why not.
