I just found out today you cant get health insurance except during a two week window from mid november to early december. Whos fucking idea was that? Its so stupidly inconvenient. I am filled with rage and hatred for the people who are responsible for this.
>>
All insurance is a scam. Be your own insurance.

"Private" health insurance where I am, you're supposed to get it soon as you turn 18. If you don't, and decide to get it later in life, you will be financially penalized for EVERY YEAR after the age of 18 that you didn't have private health insurance.
>>
>>83849031
Thats fucked. If they are going to make it a requirement they should make it free.
>>
And boomers wonder why everyone wants socialized medicine with an option to buy private insurance to supplement it.
>>
>>83848969
Health insurance companies and medical manufacturers colluding with the two party system to prevent nationalized health care
>>
it baffles me how my fucked up third world country has free public healthcare and the richest country in the world doesn't. Like where the hell is that wealth going to? The American people saw their collective wealth be drained by billionaires and willingly opened their legs for them and asked for it.
All because of bigotry, btw
>>
>>83849082
They obviously collude with the right wing the most, to make it the hardest. Be real
>>
>>83849088
I used to be against free healthcare because i thought the system would be perpetually clogged with wait times close to a year befote getting to see a doc but having to deal with insurance companies and their arrogant bullshit have made me do a 180 on the subject. Fuck all those parasitic ass holes.

>get cancer in other countries: treatment is paid for
>get cancer in Amerilard Land: get denied after one chemotherapy treatment and receive a 7 figure medical bill

>get medication everywhere in the world: small bill
>get medication in Amerilard Land: pay $300 fir a 30 day supply of the modlst generic medication

>doctors visits in other countries: no payments
>doctor's visits in Amerilard Land: $100 co-pay for 15 minutes

>ED visit in other countries: paid for
>ED visit in Amerilard Land: $500 just to sit in the waiting room for 10 hours

>inpatient stay in other countries: free
>inpatient stay in Amerilard Land: $5000 per day in a shared room who is contagious with the bubonic plague, and $500 for a nurse to give you two acetaminophen.
FREEDOM! And Amerilards wonder why they have Luigi Mangiones in their midst.

Ya cause the ACA is great !

>>83848969
>Whos fucking idea was that?
Obama
>>
>>83849209
Thanks obama. What is the reaspning behind this though? It seems intentionally inconvenient.

You can get insurance for a period outside of the enrollment period immediately after a "qualifying life event" like getting a job, losing a job, aging out of your parent's insurance, or moving. If you did not take advantage of that then it is on you. Part of being a responsible adult is taking care of these things when they need to be done. It isn't the government's fault that you didn't do even a basic google search or ask your parents or any grown adult in your life.

It's original purpose was the make healthcare more affordable and accessible. Unfortunately, it did the complete opposite. Here, low income could apply for Medicaid. Now, anyone on Medicaid gets an Management Care Organizations. These organizations are your standard healthcare insurance companies that are contracted to help provide coverage. By exchange, this raised everyone's insurance costs. Once ACA went into effrct, the insurance I get through my employer jumped from $40/pay to $120/pay.

Don't get me started on how it really fucked up billing for services. I had a friend who was a care coordinator in inpatient behavioral health. She showed me how much paper work had to be done just so they could justify a nurse giving a patient Tylenol for a headache. Before, she didn't need to. It was all billed under a simple service code and as long as insurance okayed the authorization for treatment, it was grand. After, she had to get authorizations for everything under different service codes. One for various nursing services, one for specific counseling services, another for miscellaneous counseling services, another for assessments, another for referrals, etc. If they granted it, then they may say you can only do certain things. One example she gave me was in the substance use disorder unit, there was a girl who has been in and out. She had a lobg history of trauma. The therapist wanted to do some trauma therapy with her as it's a major stumbling stone fir her recovery (she self-medicated her trauma with drugs.) Her MCO? FUCK NO! They only authorized nursing, meducation, and relapse prevention group therapy.

Look up "life events" that allow U sign up outside BS fall sign-up. U.S. health-care sucks. Wtf -- dental care is EXCLUDED? Your mouth is part of your body/health!
>>
It's funny when rightoids complain about the ACA like they would replace it with something better. If they got their way they would let health insurance companies rape people even harder.
>>
>>83849584
You don't have to worry though since you are a neet. But I do agree with you. Conservatives have failed to make any suitable replacement. I'd love to have socialized medicine since I think healthcare is a basic human right and no one should be in debt or declare bankruptcy over it. I'm not against privatized insurance, but it should jist be an add-on. Like, my friend over in England has private insurance. He can bypass a lot of NHS stuff for some better services that only take private insurance. His son would have waited fir years to get an ADHD eval while he got it n two weeks.

>You don't have to worry though since you are a neet
NEETs are getting their healthcare cut next year
>>
>>83849723
Doubt. They scream that kind of stuff, but how much has truly come to pass. Remember the wellness retreats (slave labir camps) for autists?
>>
>>83849457
The only healthcare system in the world that I am aware of that includes dental is the NHS, and it's one of the worst systems by far. Nobody else includes dental in healthcare.
I also agree it's fucking retarded, but get some perspective.
>>
>>83849680
In his case it isn't an addon but a life or death requirement to have it despite paying infinite taxes into the system. It's the same in a few other public health systems, but some of them actually work quite decently.

It is 100% the government's fault for not making this information available. Adults have not been parents or tutors in basically a hundred years at this time and a google search will not reveal anything if you don't already know that is a thing.

In my country, you get comprehensive information pamphlets from the government at every stage of life that explicitly point out every service you may be entitled to and how to get them, plus information about how to plan your lifepaths (and it's real, legitimate information, not bullshit lies like "you can do anything! Got get in million dollar debt chasing a philosophy degree! If it's your passion you'll get a good job no problem!")
>>
>>83849241
The reasoning is so you pay for health insurance all the time instead of only cherrypicking coverage when you are sick and seeing the doctor, then dropping it the next month when you no longer need it. Same reason why you cannot buy car insurance after a crash or life insurance after you are diagnosed with a terminal illness. All types of insurance are insolvent without a high number of healthy people who will not file for claims paying for premiums. If your only premiums come from claimants you will go out of business.
>>
>>83849241
>What's the intention behind a business that only profits if you don't use what you pay for
Does no one see the criminal behavior of this industry or is it just me
>>
>>83849796
Starting next year there are work requirements to be on medicaid. If you don't work/volunteer for at least 80 hours a month you are taken off medicaid. It's over for neets.
>>
>>83849941
Insurance is one of the most hated industries for this reason. You are not at all alone here. Remember mangione.
Beyond that, it would be banking, politics, and (beside the propaganda-fueled brigades) medicine.
