its another one of those days where I'm feeling bored, restless and empty. I don't care about life anymore
>>
>>83851790
that sounds frustrating.
can you do anything useful, like code?
>>
>>83851794
i'm too low iq for that lol, I don't have the desire to do it either
>>
>>83851835
it was just an example
>>
>>83851871
trve my mistake, another example of low iq
>>
>>83851881
can you do anything useful, then?
>>
>>83851885
what do you count as useful, give me a bunch of examples and i'll tell you
>>
>>83851888
checked,
you tell me, my opinion doesnt really matter, i just thought thinking about things you find useful might make you care a bit about certain aspects of life, which makes it bearable.
i've been writing jokes and thinking up game concepts in my free time because it's fun and might be useful down the road.
idk what your weapon of choice would be
>>
>>83851907
I make comics and play the chord organ, my low iq way of coping. tell me a joke about video game concepts
>>
>>83851917
those two arent related
that sounds interesting, do you write the stories yourselves, and design the characters and all that?
i never really got into comics, i basically grew up in a puritanical household with no sweets, no comics, no tv

here's one of the jokes i wrote
"I've done some research, I've applied some critical thinking and I think I've figured out why the WNBA seems less competitive than the NBA.
[---]
Lots of white chicks."
>>
Go to gym 4x per week and follow a real routine, all these feels will disappear.
>>
>>83851790
Seriously though. The skin around that cat's eyes look very irritated and like it needs some lotion.
>>
>>83851932
Its just two things i like to do, comics and the chord organ. Yes I do write them, I currently am working on 4 comic titles. One is a collection of small stories and illustrations, one is about a lonely pink bird finding his way, one is about characters who like music, argue about music, play in bands ect and one is about humorous two friends in world war 2.

did living in a puritanical household suck for you?
nice joke too
>>
>>83852022
that's quite the breadth of topics you're writing about.
what does "finding its way" mean for some pink bird?
it didnt suck in a vacuum, but it sucked in a social context, i.e. i never knew wtf people in my class were talking about, i could never bring people home. the thing about children growing up is - you just take whatever youre experiencing as the "default", and the default cant possibly "suck" because you dont have a frame of reference
>>
>>83852110
the pink bird comes home after high school graduation to contemplate stuff, his mother tells him to get a job. He starts studying at college, applying jobs and can't find anything. He feels lost. One night he a creature takes him away to some new strange world (thats all I have at the moment)

What did you do as a kid, did you even have toys? I remember myself there was only one tv and my dad was the one to have it so I just played with toys in my room
>>
>>83852160
i had lots of "creative" toys, i.e. crayons, lego, meccano, that type of stuff
dumb question, but is the pink bird you?
>>
>>83852171
yeah lol, you got me. Its suppose to be the honest comic where I write about my frustrations

do yourself have a useful hobby
>>
>>83852214
why the pink bird? what color's the mom? why a bird?
i'm currently learning godot after having dipped my toes into unity, and i do that concept work i've talked about.
i used to ghostwrite for fairly known rap artists, and i used to draw and do street art, not so much anymore.
>>
>>83852229
pink bird cause its an interesting design, the mother is also pink. Its like funny animal world, where everyone is a funny animal

what kind of game are you making and what did you draw, any specific artists you like?
>>
>>83852268
i have a couple, but there's 3 main ones
- an RPG where perception influences reality
- a 2d platformer about a gingerbread man
- a grand strategy game with off-genre spinoffs
apparently I'm a systems designer, first and foremost, so mechanics = meaning

i used to do some basic comic/manga hybrid stuff, but back then i didnt really have anything to say, so i stopped. i kind of wish i had kept up practice just to be good at the craft now.

so there's a juxtaposition between the world frame (funny colorful animals) and the subject matter (serious real life frustration of young men), how do you avoid tonal whiplash (if at all)?
>>
>>83852335
I do funny animals because thats what i like, I read duck comics by carl barks and pogo comics by walt kelly and I write about whats true to me, I don't really think about the tonal whiplash. Did you have any ideas for a comic/manga story? the rpg sounds interesting, how would you do that
>>
>>83852382
telling you how exactly it works feels like giving away a cool idea someone might steal from me, but the baseline idea is that the more someone understands about the world, the more they can influence reality, which is at its core just a clinical reframing of what "experience" translates to in RPGs
regarding the duck comics, fair enough. i also have never performed my jokes or shown anyone my concepts, but at the same time, i kind of care about the possibility of an audience, and check for blind spots in regards to whether something is easy to understand or not
>>
>>83852401
sounds pretty high iq, don't worry I won't steal the idea but did you have any specific influences in this idea. Would you do your jokes as stand up comedy
>>
>>83852457
i had an image of a kid who tore the sky in my head and that's how i came to it.
i dont think it's high iq, i think it's just somewhat interesting, and a fairly untreaded path (hopefully).
i sometimes think about performing them but most of my jokes are a lot darker than the one i posted earlier so i dont think it would work on most audiences.

i kind of hate that my "art" was always so generic, i think your baseline is more interesting than mine, at least
>>
>>83851939
>ignored by OP because he is fat and lazy
>>
>>83852477
checked, sorry brother we were kinda just talking here, it's a good idea but it needs discipline or motivation, both of which OP doesnt have today
>>
>>83852472
what do you mean image, was like a dream, imagination or some hallucination. can your darker jokes create different reactions? I'd think that would be interesting to do as a performance, could it get you booed out? From what i've heard you've got some interesting ideas that should be developed. I personally just made drawing a habit but thinking of ideas was the hardest part for me
>>
>>83852477
i went to the gym yesterday ;-;
>>
>>83852504
i appreciate the vote of confidence. when i fed an AI my jokes (~20 or so of varying lengths), it said (after i told them to not be affirming or supportive) that they were "deadpan, tender, cruel". my little brother also liked some of them, some were too dark for him.

it was just an image that popped into my head while reading some throwaway manwha, that became one of the characters, and the other was something i had had in the back of my head for a while, and just finally found a place where it made sense. i tend to just write stuff down that's interesting and when i find a place to put it, it feels like something was made "right".
>>
>>83852542
well ai is ai, you would need a real audience or joke professional to tell you whether your good or not. I do the same with writing ideas down, I have a bunch of phrases, names and sentences written down just incase it comes in use later
>>
>>83852569
that's fair enough, but ideally id need like 10-20 audiences to have a proper idea of if it works at all.
any of those tidbits youve written down you could share?
>>
>>83852640
Do you have a large material of jokes? if you do I'd recommend finding ways to share it. If you like your jokes, other people out there will also like it

here are some of the interesting things i've written down
>Fat lizard with skinny limbs
> just a guy and his pooch
>monkey tribe fights over food
>banquet surgery
>comics based off of timothy treadwell
>riding a bicycle through a crowd
just half baked stuff
>>
>>83852686
i like these "sketches", especially the bicycle and the fat lizard. all you need for them to become an "idea" is to figure out why they are what they are, no?
>>
>>83852753
well thanks man, I think i'll just sleep, its pretty late now. it was nice talking anon ;-;
Have anything to say?
>>
>>83851790
Go watch cartoons or dont use the screen at all.
>>
>>83852870
yeah, good night mate.
i hope tomorrow is a better day for you
>>
wholesome ass thread, gl to both you anons
>>
>>83851790
pretty much the same here. I live in a god-forsaken 9th world hellholle, divorced, a whole year jobless (tried but no one is hiring, even for minimum wage)
im 30 and trying a degree in agriculture this year, bc at least while studying i can get free food and reduced public transport costs. I feel like i could wake up any day and just end everything.
