At what point do you get a new battery vs a new pc? my laptop is from 2016 and the thing dies after 15 minutes off the charger lol. i dont have high standards but i guess at this point i should just save for a new pc right?

>>83853629I would buy a new pc if possiblebut prices are kinda out of control right now due to ram gpu n storage production shortagesa battery is probably your cheapest bet but with todays technology the performance jump will probably be worth the price
I'm in your situation. I only use it for Internet and anime pretty much. I'm buying a new battery. It's only $30.
>>83853629Depends on the specs, if it still runs everything fine then just order a new battery
You guys take your laptop off the charger?
People who use laptops at home get filed under the retard category.
>>83853948Laptops are good for when you want to be cozy, don't want to always be sitting at a desk
>>83853948I haven't even turned on my desktop in years. I don't game anymore, and just do everything in bed. 2lazy
>>83853629You can get a surface pro 3, 4 for around 75 bucks. Great laptop, just pick up one of those instead of a battery
I think the keyboard brand is a bridge? It's all aluminum and the surface wedges into it so turns it into like a MacBook
You'll want to get the i7 version with 512 hard drive and I think it's 16 GB of RAM If I remember correctly. It's Windows 10 which is way better than 11

I only use laptops because I'm not a faggot who needs the most to up to date equipment to play games on it. I usually go for a new one every 5-7 years then commission the older one into a different task such as the one I got in 2015 is being used as a Jellyfin server. The exception to that was the Acer Aspire One netbook I got in 2011, which is still being used as a file server. These two are always plugged in btw. >>83854216Win 11 flat out sucks. It slowed down my laptop I'm using as a jellyfin server so much after the upgrade. I downgraded it back to 10 and it's working just fine.
>>83854717I am similar, but I always buy the highest end equipment at a interval basis. A new motherboard CPU, ram every 9 years, a new GPU every 5. I buy a new laptop every 7 years. As far as electronics I like to buy unique retro gaming tech that was ridiculously expensive back then, but I can find it on eBay very rarely and fuck around with it. Peripherals like mice, keyboard, speakers, gaming lights, gaming heater/cooler, tablets, phones. I used to have three very expensive desktop replacements that your laptops that I would use for holiday gaming packing them up and bringing to Christmas every year. I sold those and now I use a Alienware alpha r2 with a pop-up display. >>83854717Never do an in-place upgrade. Too many incompatibilities and issues under the hood and Microsoft makes it impossible to fix them directly. Windows 10 is pretty trash as well, it will kill itself corrupting its own data every 5 years or so but using shut up 10 and Open Shell it's usable.
He conflicting graphics driver and Windows 10 automatic driver installation on boot corrupted my recovery partition. Absolutely fucked. Something where I could just drag and drop files and fix it in safe mode on Windows 7, Windows 10 can't reset itself because the recovery parttion is corrupted, It was unable to replace the missing files from Microsoft server, as well as unable to patch using the ISO. Had to do a fresh installation. Now I'm pretty pissed about game pass because if a game crashes while you are playing and you force close it and game pass will not open the game again until you restart the computer because server authentification apparently got triggered and won't allow boot. Almost as bad as uninstalling a game in game pass and seeing that it didn't actually uninstall on the computer because the space is still used but in a place that you are unable to access to delete the files. Nightmare to have to deal with that.
