This is just a theory I've been developing for a little while now:

I think that women choose to date 'bad boys' to validate their feminist mindset that they 'don't need men' and can live independently. Women want to believe their boyfriend/husband is a predator so they can justify leaving him later if someone better comes along.

A 'nice' man can't be criticized. If he's nice, she can't date him. It's too boring, not enough drama, no gossip for her friends. I see that more clearly now working alongside divorced moms and thots on a daily basis. I get friend zoned and other guys have one night stands because in modern society love can't exist. You're either a nice guy or a fuck boy, there is no middle. And I don't want to be a rapist. I hate society's standards.
